Saw him in Manchester last week, and wasn't that impressed with the music he's playing. Started and ended very well, but the middle was completely unmemorable. I find that his digital sound lacks punch or depth (and some vocal tracks would have been nice).now this may be partly down to the sound system, but the same sound system captured Xpander perfectly well enough at the end.Not a patch on his Renaissance appearance back in July when he played a classic 1st two hours with all the quality stuff from his Avalon set.Tthere were few tracks that made you want to go out and grab them the next day.Personally I think Sasha needs 6-months off working on productions, revitalising and re-assessing what he plays. Having listened to Northern Exposure 1 & 2 (plusJJJ), Involver, Arkham Asylum/Xpander EP's and his Icon/Beirut/Okyo sets over the past few days the latest stuff just doesn't cut it for me.Given his awesome talent and ear for amazing music this is a big shame. While he still gets my support I'm hoping 2007 sees him back to his best.

The car park gig was ace. Glued to the dancefloor for 6 hours - Scarlet Etienne did a great job on warmup duties too. Just a shame it finished at 4am - an extra couple of hours would have been great. The couple of real old school tracks in the middle were great to hear as well.
Last times i saw Sasha was at Glade '05 and SW4 '05 and he was very disappointing. Nice to hear a proper club set, which had the whole venue loving it... so many smiles (although probably not as many as "back in the day")

He dropped that track at Manchester Warehouse, it blew me away and totally floored me - easily the highlight of the night.
I just wish he played more stuff like that !

I thought the venue was brilliant, I'd much rather be in a car park (!) than rammed into Fabric. Easy to get a drink (even though they were ?4), easy to get to the toilet and no stupid queue for the cloakroom ? I'd be there every week if I could.
And it was a stunning set, he picked up the tempo and just kept it there... for hours. Hardly recognised any tracks except a few classics ? Reese & Antonio and Todd Terry (?) ? but I did find myself grinning inanely. And Scarlett Etienne was brilliant too. Xmas came early.
i had a quality nite! thought sasha was on top form, banged it nicely, pete heller - simpler gets me going every time, it was jammed in there but what ya expect, xpander at end.... merry xmas! place went mental! bring it diggers!
