Hi, I just installed this service pack 2 thing for XP and now I can't download mixes from MS. When you put the password in it asks you if you want to allow the site to send you a file, you say yeah and then MS says you don't have the right password. Anyone else having problems with this "update"?

Re:: Service Pack 2
Disable the new pop up blocker in your Internet Epxlorer (included in the SP2 package). Open the IE, go to "Tools" then "Internet options" and then go to...either Security or Privacy (can?t tell out of the top of my head as the company I work has has the SP2 not installed yet) and disable the pop up blocker. The option is on the bottom of this menu. Take care you go to System management and double click on the new Entry "Security Center" as well to choose if you like to use the built in firewall and virus scanner...my suggestion is if you have your own firewall and virus scanner, get rid of EVERYTHING in the Security Center.
Damn Microsoft for overriding people?s security programs with their built in bullshit. -

Re:: Service Pack 2
Who with a clear mind would prefer an addon for an Microsoft OS from a stand alone product from a company which is specialized on security programs? Especially rearding the reputation Microsoft has speaking of security holes..... I personally think it?s another shameless effort in trying to gain market shares and I hope companys like McAffee or Symantec sue them for giving customers no visible choice NOT to choose a Microsoft product. It can`t be that they come years after firewalls are standard and activate their product by default without asking you. Most of the people who buy their PC in supermarkets or chain-stores have no clue about setting their PC right and this is what Microsoft has put in their calculation.Comment

Re:: Service Pack 2
with SP2 you can click the Popup status bar that appears when a pop is blocked and click "Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site..." and click Yes at the confirmation prompt that appears. The popup blocker was put in place to help prevent spyware/popups from being annoying... so why would anybody want to disable it? I don't recommend disabling it, I recommend allowing [ms] to show popups.Comment

Re:: Service Pack 2
Makes me think to stay away of that SP2. Just keep updating the anti-virus and the firewalls and everything should be pretty fine. Sounds like Microsoft is trying to get people to use their inferior products again by saying that they NEED to download this to keep away from HACKERS.
Thriving on scare tactics is what Microsoft does.Comment
