from someome who doesn't know anything about soccer, is, was, Beckham really that good in his day? Like, the Michael Jordan of soccer? or is he just a good player that is a product of overendorsement?
I agree that Beckham is way overratted. They are even comparing him to Pele when Pele came over to the NASL in the 70s. No freakn way you can compare him to Pele. Pele had talent.
However, his popularity to most non-soccer fans is great so it should have a positive impact to the US.

he is just a WHORE for the money. the shit coming out of his mouth now. " I have played football at the hightest level for 15 years and now I need a new challenge " yeah yeah whatever. he went to madrid and won fck all and now cant get a game. I reckon the only reason he is going there is to get on the silver screen when his football days are numbered. good ridance to him I hope he " breaks a leg "
?50 a minute the guy is going to earn, 50 fucking quid a minute !
There are probably several reasons why they have signed him but I'm sure the main ones are not for his football abilities. What his profile will bring to the club in merchandising will no doubt pay for most of his wages, he'll sell more replica shirts than any other American sports person.
Anyway, I say god luck to the lad, anyone in their right mind would take what he is getting, I kknow I would.
I think this a bad move for him in regards to his football (soccer) career, but for his celebrity status it will be a good move as he will get more publicity over in the US for sure

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
no cause there to busy worrying about how to save the world
No, because when baseball starts, the majority of america will be glued to that. Soccer is a sport that most of us over here just don't give a shit about. Beckham Schmeckam. I see tons of kids playing soccer these days, and keep wondering, when is it going to catch on...and it doesn't happen.
^^^ i blame the arenas for that .... and also i noticed that here in the US going to a sports event implies going to a show that is more than just watching the game ... in soccer matches your eyes are glued to the field .. you dont want to miss one seconf of the game
Americans are used to a different kind of show no matter the sport ..
