    Praying For Power

Well, we've got another ice storm heading this way. We've lost power due to storms on two different occasions in the last 6 months for 5 days each, and if we lose it again, I might just lose my shit.

If I should drop off the board for a little while over the next few days, look for me on the evening news. I'll be the madman banging on the door at Ameren's headquarters.

How about buying a little diesel generator then toasty? I mean, it's not that expensive and if you have outages that often, it's a justified buy.

US = third world country sometimes imo...

The main reason is that my house is large -- 3 floors, 3000 square feet -- and everything is electric, i.e., I don't use gas for anything. My heat, my stove, my hot water, everything is electric, and because of the size of the house, we have zoned climate control, so there's two furnaces, a/c units, etc. The point is that unless I go out and buy a serious generator, I'm not going to be able to do anything other than sit in a dark room playing Uno next to a space heater and even one of those $5,000 whole house generators can't generate enough power to run even one of our furnaces, so what's the point?

If I bought a portable generator, I'd still have to go somewhere else to shower, do laundry, and cook, so I might as well go to a hotel. It would be different if I had a gas stove and water heater, but as it stands, everything that differentiates my house from a large box made out of bricks requires electricity, and more electricity than I can make with a portable generator.

been wondering that for quite some time. Maybe he finally realized that there really was no absolute proof for god and he was so devastated he just wasn't able to show his face around here anymore.

I love living downtown. All powerlines burried under the city. Only thing knocking my powerout is the New Madrid fault, and somehow i think when that happens, power is the last thing i'm going to be worried about.

We'll do another dinner party if you don't have power toasty. Ring me if it happens, hopefully it doesn't tho.
