did a 180 on the interstate sat night in the left lane. almost hit a truck to my right and the guard rail to my left. by time it finished I was facing 4-5 cars coming toward me. thank god I didn't hit anything.

We had a very large branch break of the birch tree in my backyard here in St. Catharines. I will have to saw it off later, but not today, it's too cold, and the only thing it's hurting is a clothesline.

Unfortunately we're at the mercy of a monopoly here in St. Louis with Ameren UE. When i lived in my house in south city last year, i lost power for about 4 days along with over a half million other people. A lot of them losing power for way over a week. Got a hotel for two days, and then visited friends out of town for the other two. But it's beginning to become a regular occurance for residents here anytime there is a wind storm or an ice storm. I have not heard any updates lately, but i heard numerous lawsuits being filed against Ameren as they had virtually stopped trimming trees for the past few years until the trees actually fall on power lines- so i hope something is done to Ameren eventually.

Thankfully tho, the power loss with every storm isn't my problem anymore as the wife and i sold our house and bought a loft space downtown. Downtown is on a seperate grid and all lines are burried under city, plus there are no trees here, so unless a massive earthquake strikes, which unfortunately is probably due, we're golden as far as power goes. REALLY sucks for everyone outside of downtown tho. That ice you just got in the north east hit us a few days ago...and there are still some people in STL today without power last i heard.

I have some friends in Springfield that have been out of power for about 5 days now, too. haven't heard anything about power in kc yet... assume most people's homes are fine

thankfully managed to keep my power this time around, but man does losing your power suck -- I've lost it twice over the past 6 months, 5 days each time. It's miserable. You folks that are getting hit hard right now take care and stay warm.

This last storm caused a large branch to break off and fall through the roof of the utility shed in the back yard of the house i'm rehabbing. Hellooooo insurance! Luckily it didn't fall on the house, i just put a new roof on it last week.

Wow...that is lucky it didn't fall on the roof.
