I can help him start by asking, how much are you willing to spend? Thats really the issue I've found.

And I'm checking out the BioK www.biokplus.com, seem pretty outside the box.

It was fun while it lasted...

I never realized it before, but it sure feels good to be fit and healthy. Sounds like a weird thing to say but I never knew better cos I was unfit when growing up, and never thought much about health! I'm only starting to be more aware of my diet now, it's tough to do that in Singapore because of the local cuisine (and I detest fast food!). Local cuisine usually consist of Chinese stir-fry (bad!) food in hawker stalls, soupy rice noodles (which aren't too bad), curry (bad!). Asian cuisine usually employs a lot of oil, seasoning, and MSG. Sometimes, I just wish I can have a sandwich for the same price!

            Re: Health Junkies

I suppose though the stir-fry wouldn't be too bad, unless it's all crappy oil and seasonings...but if it's rice and some veggies, then it's at least somewhat good...

I tabbed along last year on getting better improvements and saw some results, but so far this year I'm really working on it. Cut back on my meal amounts and spaced it all out during the day, so I can eat a good 4-6 meals now and burn things off better (no dieting here). Light supplements at the moment, but look to ramp them up down the road. And finally found an excellent workout program that I can switch up every 2-4 weeks so I don't get bored (I was so getting sick of just jumping on a machine and that even didn't do a lot at times). I figure in 6 months I should drop enough body fat and weight to get down to where I'd like to be.

And definitely have been cutting out the junk...though out of the 28+ meals I eat, it's good to have a couple of cheat-types, as long as it's still relative in size...

Scary part...I've really scaled back on the alcohol and it's kind of feeling good right now (I'd go out usually and drink like a fish )

Drinking is a HUGE part of health, totally hear ya on that. Not to mention, thats one aspect of working out that never gets any attention, when you discipline yourself to do cardio, etc, you automatically eat healthier, sleep better, drink less, smoke less, which are all good things a biproducts of a daily 30 min workout.

It was fun while it lasted...

Cardio I'll continue to do, but I've gotten into bodyweight exercises instead...much better kickass workout and combined with some cardio, give it a double kick in the ass...

that bio k stuff is pretty entertaining. it's hard for me to fathom putting live bacteria in my body. i didn't know there were "good kinds", but this bio k stuff looks pretty interesting. i take multivitamins and fish oil capsules daily, but thats generally all i take. i might give the bio k stuff a whirl and see how it effects my system. is it expensive?

                    good thread, btw. intersting topic.

                      Save your money.

Every Scientfic study ever done proves Mutlivitiams and supps could be helpful to the elderly or pregnant women.

As for pro-bios again waste of time, full of sugar which actually provides fuel for the bad bateria to grow even more.

Sensible diet, min 2.5l of water a day and 8 hours sleep is all that is needed.

have you ever eaten yogurt, cheese, or chocolate? bacteria is present in the first two when you eat them, and is used to make the 3rd (along with wine, vinegar, and other foods).

the jury is still out. aspratame is just a variation on an amino acid. whether that subtle difference is enough to be harmful hasn't been proven conclusively by either side...

as of the second of january i have not had any dairy products. i've not had any soda. i have not had any fast food. i have had no red meat or chicken. my diet has consisted of rice, vegetables, shrimp and assorted varieties of fish, as well as fruits.

                                technically, i'm now a pesco-vegetarian. but i don't do dairy, too.

i've lost some weight (6lbs since, and not water weight, i drink about 1.25 gallons a day), my workouts are more energetic, and has saved me some considerable money, too.

i'm not a health nut. my choices are my own based on my own observations and inquiry.

it's pushed me to work on new recipes as well, so it's also been intellectually stimulating in that respect.

                                i highly recommend a 7-day trial.
