yeah, whatever you do, just don't burn your bridges. It's always nice to leave with them saying, "well, there goes a fine employee. If he ever needs a job, he can always come back and we can help".

That is the optimal situation, I am gearing up to give it to them bright and early tomorrow morning.

This morning is D-Day I have such anxiety about it but it must be done! BTW my new company is www.ip-soft.net. They are located in Manhattan in the WTC district, right on State Street and South Ferry.

Does anyone do the Path to WTC in the morning here?

Agree, keep it casual and meet with your boss and let him know; also let him know that it's not because of job dissatisfaction, but for advancement in your career.

Even if the job totally sucked and you hate your boss, you never want to express dissatisfaction or ways that the company management could improve itself, as your words will only fall on deaf ears. I?ve also worked for an employer that would have you pack your desk the moment you sent notice if they felt that you were leaving due to dissatisfaction. Never good to burn bridges even if things are really shitty.

Congrats on the new job though

just be honest. Tell them that you've really enjoyed working there and that you aren't leaving because you're unhappy there, but that your life is taking you in a different direction right now. They may not be thrilled, but they'll understand.

Beyond that, give them plenty of notice and be gracious about your time there, and you'll be able to use them as a reference for years to come.
