Leigh's first exposure to house music was in the early days of the 'Madchester' music explosion, where guitar music began to fuse with burgeoning electronic beats, he sites Primal Screams debut album 'Screamadelica' as the first major musical influence in his life. At this point he didn't know how to articulate this love of electronica, that is until he went away to University in Liverpool, immersing himself in the house scene, being a regular in the early days of Cream, where Andy Weatherall, Justin Robertson, The Chemical Brothers et al held sway. This cemented his love for house music, and buying his first set of old decks was the next step. Leigh began making a name for himself as a DJ in Liverpool, having first become hooked on house beats attending the very early parties at the now legendary Cream, playing at various student nights and house parties. His first real break came when he entered Muzik Magazine's 'Bedroom Bedlam' competition. Earning a closely fought second spot behind Yousef, Leigh's mix was aired on Judge Jule's Radio One show, laying the foundations for greater things to come.

After he finished University, Leigh moved to London, with no real plan other than to further his DJing and music career. A chance meeting with Jason Moore who at the time was resident DJ for Journeys By DJ, led to Leigh's first job in music, driving Jason to his gigs, which in turn led to an ever growing contacts base within club land. It wasn't long before Leigh was warming up for Jason at clubs like Phil Perry's 'Sound of the Suburbs', where Leigh later become resident. Shortly after which, things moved forward a little quicker than expected. In early 1999, Jason asked Leigh to be a resident at his new 'Urbantorque' night at Heaven, rubbing shoulders with such legends as Juan Atkins, Dave Angel, Lee Buridge, Craig Richards, Adam Freeland, Steve Lawler, Danny Rampling, Danny Howells, Terry Francis, DJ Vibe, Murk and Carl Cox. As Leigh's reputation escalated, so did the gigs. He was now playing at clubs like Mezzanine and Area, culminating in the Essential Christmas Party 99 (In Association with Mixmag & ffrr) with Pete Tong, Pete Heller, Stanton Warriors, Felix Da Housecat and Lenny Fontana. Leigh played in the Ericcson tent at Homelands 2000 and the Radio One Sound Stage at Mardi Gras, warming up for Danny Rampling and Judge Jules live broadcast.

Leigh joined Defected Records also in 1999, working with some of the top DJ's and Producers in the world. Also DJing on the Defected Tour at Ministry Of Sound. He completed his debut production, Facedown 'Lost / Think About Me' signed to Junior Boys Own, shortly after which Leigh took up residence at Headstart, with a monthly slot at Phil Perry's Full Circle parties in the summer of 2001. His commitment to quality music took him to Subversive Records as A&R Manager. Working with artists such as Cevin Fisher and George Morel. Leigh is now back working with Jason Moore as A&R Manager for Urbantorque Records. Leigh also started up his own label Sub Rossa as an outlet for the more techier side of deep house, with 6 acclaimed EP releases on the label before time restrictions forced him to shelve the label.

Leigh has not looked back since, when not DJing, running Urbantorque, Promoting & Producing, he also finds time to manage the biggest download store in the uk DJmag.com, and also recently formed The Askesian Society with fellow house head Patrick McCourt, providing a new outlet for productions and remixes. He is truly part and parcel of the UK dance scene, there from its earliest beginnings, has stuck to his guns, has never sold out and stayed true to the music he loves. Leigh Morgan is one to watch out for over the coming months, as Urbantorque the label drops the biggest underground tracks in club land at the moment, Leigh is back on the DJ trail!!

Hey Ricky. My name is Chris and I hail from Canada. I apologize for using this thread and maybe getting off topic a little...but I've been trying desperately the past couple days to get info on a Sounds of the Orient mix of yours I heard on Sunday, April 22 through iTunes Radio on what was 202.fm - Energy 98 Dance Hits. This particular set floored me...I was literally blown away. I soon realized that there are many SOTO mixes and I have been having trouble finding broadcasting schedules for your sets. Your myspace page shows Global airing several but I cannot find any radio site that shows it in their schedule. Danceradio.gr had a SOTO to be aired on Wednesday and then it was removed, along with their entire schedule. It may not have been the same one either. I'm not sure if you know the particular mix I am talking about but a tracklisting or download would be great. If there is somewhere I could purchase it I would be happy to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much =)
