Frankly i think this is the year Progressive comes back, you can hear it in soo many producers tracks. Even the electro producers are getting more proggy, but with their own sound.

I'm starting to get this sense, too...listen to stuff like Meindl's recent brilliant promo, and you hear a lot of prog bits and melody in there, even though it still fits somewhere within the minimal/tech world, particularly in the beats... I really dig it, hope there's more fusion like that to come.

proggy trancey stuff is pretty big. everything coming out on kompakt seems to be in that vein.

Totally agree with this 100%. I've always been an advocate of the theory that our chosen genres keep moving forward in leaps and bounds, and we're at an infinitely better place production-wise that we were in the past. I know the tracks are more complex and I'm loving it too, it's just that: 1) The genre is massively flooded with rubbish at the same time, and 2) The minimal DJs I've been listening to so far aren't doing it right. Set programming is almost non-existant.

Too many people riding the wave imo, and are making themselves look intelligent off intelligent music. (I know, I know. I have to get off my backside and do something about it)

What's this Meindl promo? Is there a dl for it to check out?

I'm still grappling with what you guys are referring to as minimal. The stuff coming out of Kompakt are "in" right now, the stuff that Digweed is playing; doesn't sound very minimal to me compared to minimal techno like Hawtin, Magda and the usual suspects.

It's not really as minimal as compared to Hawtin and others in the Minus camp...it's got more bits of melody in it, more along the lines of Kriece or Oliver Koletzki. I found it to be quite good...

i,ve been reading this post a little bit in bit and i have to say that some of your comments seem a little harsh, truth is that some people feel the exact way about prog and other genres, u just have to accept that thee are different tastes out there and its up to u if u choose to explore/follow those tastes you just have to be open minded
