I don't know if any of you have caught on yet, but there is a huge buzz all over the internet about these crazy clues that are being found regrading the concept of the new NIN album, Year Zero.
I guess it all started when some people that saw them on their current tour pieced together some highlighted letters on the back of a shirt that spelled out I AM TRYING TO BELIEVE. Turns out it is a website with a bunch of references to a chemical called Parepin that the government has released into the country's water supply to (supposedly) combat bio-terrorism. This site has led to other sites with other cryptic messages of the not to distant future where the world has basically reached its breaking point and all hell is breaking loose.
This is some of the coolest shit I have come across on the internet yet. Viral marketing at its best. A flash drive was found in the bathroom at the venue they played at in Lisbon 2 nights ago containing the new song "My Violent Heart." The end of it is a bunch of static...don't ask me why...but someone decided to put it into a spectrometer and it turn out that the static is actually an image. Read some of the sites to find out what it is. Another song call "Survivalism" played on KROQ this morning at 7 in the morning...completely unannounced. I've heard both of the new songs and they are really good....different...but good.
