    Orb Appreciation Thread

Was recently feeling nostalgic and pulled out some old Orb discs I had in my collection. Man, they were way ahead of their time. Most of the time, when I pull out early 90's electronica to satisfy a craving for some old school stuff, I'm disappointed by the tinny and empty sound. Older Orb stuff still stands up great, though, with really lush, multi-layered soundscapes. Much of it sounds like it could have been made last Thursday.

Gonna work its way back into my rotation on those chill playlists...

+ 1 and guilty of tripping to The Orb CD's a lot in the past. And yes, they were ahead of their times..listen to some of their older productions and you can see that.

adventures beyond the ultraworld is still great...i think that alex patterson uses some of the best samples around, he has a good sense of humour. i need to go listen to those discs again. plus the auntie aubreys mix cd is good too. i havent heard the 2nd one of the series though.

big fan of the orb. i have all their studio albums on cd except for bicycles and tricycles (which i just havent picked up yet) or orbsessions (rarities)

orbus terrarum is probably my favorite.

bicyles and tricyles is a bit pedestrian unfortunatley.

Orb's older stuff is just amazing. So futuristic and way ahead of anyone else. There newer stuff I really don't care a whole lot know. But I will put in some of there older stuff and give it a listen again. Great thread by the way as well.
