Deep Mariano vs. Gustavo Di Tomaso@Jacko’s bar May 19, 2005
Sometimes good mixes take longer to get a proper release because of the unreleased tracks that have been featured during the set. Since the mix we offer as a very special Mercuryserver exclusive download this week is from 2005 you get a first impression HOW good it actually is. I am proud and feel honoured that both Gustavo and Deep Mariano gave clearance to host their mix on our website. Special thanks to Arielus for making the contact and especially for gracing me with the mix some time ago.
Sometimes you receive mixes and have to shut up about them because they are only meant for your ears and not for public review. Most of the times this is no problem for me but I can’t tell how often I enjoyed this mix already and since how long I wanted to share it with fellow music lovers who can appreciate a five hour long player mix like this. But on the other hand there are artists who ask to hold something back and of course we at Mercuryserver respect this. The common history we have only adds to this since Gustavo and Mariano had shows on our former internet radio Mercurysessions which were both awesome and Gustavo was even under the top3 of our 2004 Mercurypromote mix contest - some background info for those who are not that long with us already.
Enough sentimental talk, waiting time is over. Deep Mariano and Gustavo are cool with it so there is no need to hold it back any longer. Here is a bit of info about both artists you can read while you enjoy their lush and eclectic journey to Progressive House heaven set. The mix was recorded @ 128 kb but it is a recording from the source so the quality is good.
Gustavo di Tomaso biography
“Gustavo started to get into house music in 91/92 listening to Carlos Alfonsin, resident at El Cielo. Having Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and Martin Garcia as main influences, his love for house has grown stronger and moved to deep progressive house, breaks and progressive. His performances are rich in these sounds generating a very harmonious and interesting atmosphere.
His sets contain plenty of edits (taylor-made for his own sets, inspired in Hernan Cattaneo and Martin Garc?a). Those little slight subtle changes in some popular tracks, made his work a different, marking his concern for details, working on preparing material with great technique, programming and interactivity.
Gustavo has played in both little bars for 150 people as well as venues like La Vieja Usina in Cordoba for over 6.000 filling in for John Graham (aka Quivver after a BABASONICOS concert. In 1999 he started playing chill out and deep house music in one of the highest quality lounges in Buenos Aires, El Gran Danzon.
Afterwards, he became the resident at ANT, other lounge where he shared the honor of playing with Carlos Ranalli, Cristobal Paz and Facu Carri. He appeared at CREAMFIELDS in 2001 in the GANCIA chill out tent closing the arena after Cristobal Paz. In 2002 he played twice as a guest at Mint, after that event and due to his father's illness he took a year off, playing eventually in private parties. He finished up second in a 2004 contest done by Mercuryserver. He?s currently resident on Thursdays in Jacko's Bar in Palermo Soho and in events named Silence. Recently play a warm up for Martin Garcia in Middawn Club (Haedo).”

Deep Mariano biography
"The day Rosario-born artist Mariano Perez discovered the sound of house definitely changed the way he listened to music, and the way he got involved with it. After his professional debut in 2001 as dj of the former art-bar OBS, followed by his residency at Bar del Mar, a classic reference of electronic music in one of the most important cities in Argentina, Rosario, he was soon invited to play at many clubs allowing him to spread his deep-tech-progressive house vibes all over the local scene.
Towards the end of 2004, already known as Deep Mariano, his residency at MEI club helped him being requested at the booth of massive events such as Evolution, Seven and Dinamique, with national artists, and the Audio Dluxe parties alongside global djs as John Digweed, Jimmy Van M. and Desyn Masiello. At the same time he earned experience with the decks, Deep Mariano started exploring his production skills and pretty soon began releasing his tracks in US labels Sentient Audio Collective and Acute Recordings. With his studio-fellow CPM they have also been specially remixing artists for Off Side Recordings.
In 2005 he was part of Creamfields Buenos Aires line-up sharing Cream Arena with Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells and James Holden- and during last summer his most relevant gigs took him to the hottest beach spots clubs to warm up dance floors for dutch Junkie XL and local talent Martin Garcia. In May 2006 he played at Southfest, an important Argentinean festival that featured Deep Dish, LCD Soundsystem, Plump DJs and Satoshi Tomiie in its third edition. Open to ambient, acid, idm and techno influences to feed the deep progressive climates he develops through his dj sets, the same styles enrich his production formula in search of a completely personal sound."
