    FAO New Yorkers

Thinking about taking my wife to the City for our anniversary, which is actually over Labor Day weekend (I know, quite some time from now, but I'm just kicking it around in the early planning stages). Do a lot of people come in, or do people kinda clear out? Put another way, would it more or less busy than a regular weekend?

Usually less busy than normal b/c people are getting in their last hamptons/jersey shore trips of the summer. Good time to come visit.

Right on, thanks for the advice. One other question: my wife has never been to Manhattan before, and I'd like to stay somewhere nice like that rather than just going to a place with four walls and a shower. Normally when I'm in NYC, I stay at one of the Ws. Of course, it's been on someone else's dime.

I know NYC has tons of great boutique hotels. Anyone got any recommendations for some nice ones that won't cost an arm and a leg? One the flip side, if we did decide to just blow our wad and do it up all proper-like, what's the best contemporary (read: not the Plaza, the Ritz or the Waldorf) hotel in town nowadays? Anyone have any thoughts on the SoHo Grand?

go to the W, that place rocks. love it when you walk outside your room and the employees know your first name. you're a lawyer, spend the money, you make plenty.

May just go that route, because it is sure to impress. Had thought about the Hudson as well. Got any intel on that place?

Hudson hotel is fantastic. Try their cafeteria, excellent food. If you get a standard room, it will be 4 walls and a bathroom so maybe you will want to upgrade.
