DJing How do you make a perfect..

..loop on the pioneer cdj 1000 mk3? Is it possible? Is there a trick or is it just good timing and practice?

These are serious questions, I am on a quest for knowledge.

    Thanks,
    -M.

Well Im sure the 1000 is the same as the 800...? But you got to know your track and the breaking point / cue's of the beats. Hit that button on mark and you should have a perfect loop.

Practice by inserting just one cd / track and trying to loop it 1-8, listen to it carefully to make sure its looping straight. That's the best way imo.

Once you get the hang of pushing that button at the right time, it'll be easy as using your atm card.

The only time I use the loop function is when a track has a short intro before some sort of break and obviously you want it longer for mixing purposes.

i believe the cdj1000s also have a feature where you can edit the beginning and end points of your loop.

also get the track mixed first, once its precise. make your loop and it should mix without to much drift.

Re: How do you make a perfect..

no loop will probably ever be "perfect" as you might still be a frame or 2 off (and will have to eventually adjust along the way if looping over another track several times...)

Set the start/end points of your loop with the loop buttons. Then press the loop point you want to change and that light should turn solid (as the loop will continue). Use the platter to fine-tune where the point you want to be, then hit the button again to turn off the adjustment. Listen too; you'll know or realize when the points are a little off still...you can then use the exit/reloop button (pressing twice) to re-start the loop to match back up again if mixing...

And if you have a MMC card, those loop points can be saved to memory.

I don't think those vids on youtube are much for help. I looked for a couple last night, and all they were, was people doing everything really fast so you couldn't concentrate on what they were doing.

I always just make sure to hit the button right on the beat. I have great timing for that and don't mess it up very often.

the mkIII have actually improved the looping ability...even if its a mili second off its adjusts itself to catch the beat...its freakin simple...
also try the hot cues they the shit..and itll help you practice your timing...cheers....
