    yes.

Look, all im saying is pick any of the top international DJs - 99% of them are using CDJs. There is a reason for this. If its good enough for Sasha its good enough for me.
...well, let's see, in the past three years of throwing this lil party here in the lou, i'd say that 99% of them have all used vinyl only or live pa. But hey, if it's good enough for Sasha

So I'll start by saying that I enjoy playing my vinyl, but do to the ease of downloading from places like beatport, resonant vibes, and 3 beat to name a few I've found myself smack dab in the digital age. Granted years ago myself and my brother had access to Promo Only cd's when we played at Stealth in Daytona Beach, but used them in limited quantities. But having them there made it possible to learn how to use the denon double deck of that time. Today though I don't have any cd players to my name, and I find myself at friend's houses using whatever they available when able to. So while I love my vinyl and will play it any chance I get, CD's are where it's at for me currently.

        I can't believe I didn't see this before...
anyways, those were the days. I had sooo much fun at Stealth, getting used to those Denon decks was tough but once I got the hang of it I loved them. I don't play as much (as you know) but I still love the sound/feel of vinyl. I will take the warm tones of vinyl anyday over cd, but alas those days will be coming to an end. We are in the digital age, and with that comes digital music. I have been thinking of selling my vinyl for the last year and a half but I'm just not ready to give up some of them. The one's like M&M - I Feel This Way, Ben Chapman's Erotic Animals, Elektra's Autumn Love an so forth and so on are the reason's why I haven't. Those days of Brassy's, MARZ, Colisseum, Stealth are long gone for me, but they live on in my vinyl collection. I have been and always will be a vinyl junkie, but digital is where it will be at for me in the future. If you don't progress, you get left behind!

We brought Dan Bell in few months ago and he played a few hours of the sickest techno i've ever heard...all Vinyl. What's this left behind you speak of?

Some of the comments in this thread are cracking me up.

Don't take what I said wrong. I play strictly vinyl. I'm saying that eventually you'll have to evolve.

What party might that be? And who has been playing at these parties of yours?

Live PA's are a whole different set up. We are talking about the differences between vinyl and cd's.

Look, there are advantages to using vinyl - there are some things you can only do with vinyl. All I am saying is that there are more advantages when using cd's - and there are definitely some things you can only do with them.

And just for the record Sasha is probably one the most progressive mixers alive right now. And I don't mean progressive regarding musical genre - he's doing some ground breaking experimental stuff right now. Oh yeah, and RITM fuckin OWNS!

i could make a list of artists who have been through here, but somehow i feel like you wouldn't get it anyway, especially after reading this:

Sasha hasn't broken any ground since the 90s. All he's doing now is breaking wind.

We're just gonna be worlds apart on this one. Good day.

I don't see how I am wrong? There is a huge majority moving to digital now, eventually it will all be digital. It's going to be the norm, maybe not tomorrow or in 3 years but it's going to happen eventually!

Seriously everyone is going to have their own opinion on this subject. So we should agree to just disagree on this subject and move on.

I see I've struck a nerve with this posting, which is good! We all have agreements and disagreements with the topic. Which is cool. As far as Sasha is concerned, yes he's concidered one of the most progressive dj's out there. But I believe alot of the top dj's have moved to cd's because of a few things 1) ease of transport (not loosing your records on flights or lugging them around to gigs) 2) the ability to make a track and test it without having to get it pressed to acetate first 3) Exclusiveness (a one off that nobody has). Or ableton because you can have alot of mp3s loaded and ready to play.

I'm happy to see some of the comments made here which was what I was hoping for. I love my vinyl and if it was the only way that I had to dj, great let me at the tables. But times are changing and I'm embracing the use of cd's and cdj's and maybe sometime in the future I'll move on to using a computer who knows. As long as you have fun doing it your way and making it your own.

by who? he might have carried that title 10 years ago, today he's barely even mentionable.

I really don't follow Sasha anymore but as someone who has been a big influence on the rave or underground movement, I believe he is still relevent. Just look at the postings on here, people still like what he's doing. I prefer Danny Howells, Chris Fortier, Darren Emerson, or even Nick Warren but that's just me. So Jenks then in your opinion who's mentionable?
