Isn't American Idol a singing contest? We have those shows over here as well in many variations and there is a huge marketing machinery behind it making the "superstars" of tomorrow where 99.99% of them will be forgotten the day after but who cares - bring on the next waves of superstars and every season is the best with most talented people anyway lol.
