after just installing a Maxtor One-Touch III 500GB External (got it for around $160)
Keeping my eye eventually on the 750GB; they're starting to dip below $300

actually it shows up, but I yanked it out a while ago to make some room for a fan...sort of...oh well.
The Seagate 400GB I have is starting to get up there a bit in age (monitors have it running just shy of 4 years, but in good condition still), so it's going to be a bit of a backup on most of that stuff in there (namely all of the music) so I don't suddenly lose it all. I can also dump the 2nd Partition on the Windows side in as well. And I can just be able now to sort and organize the stuff I have on here better.
As for the 6 CD drives, 4 are virtual...and no I'm not hosting a porn server or the like

Guys and Gals, I have to hurry/leaving for short-term vacations.
I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me
I use externals now. Frankly I love them. It is like a huge CD for me. I just plug into the firewire and I am off at 800. The fact that I can daisy chain makes it so much easier for me. My system it self houses over 500 gigs. The other tera is in external. It really forces me to back up all my work. I have two exact clones of all my work + I do DVD back-ups every quarter. Paranoid? You bet. A fucking hard drive crash is the worse thing that can happen to you. I am avoiding it at all costs.
Plus within the next quarter I will be moving over to Apple finally. Been a long battle for me, and I am ready to finally get on a real system. The fact it does Windows as well is the biggest selling point for me. I am going to have 1 x 500 for Windows and 1 x 500 for OS X. If I ever get infected I am safe since they are on different drives.
Yeah hdds are the way to go. I've even using a portable hdd to carry files around. Fuck cds and dvds

Oh. My. God. James absolutely obliterated the island tonight. The last time there was so much destruction, Obi Wan Kenobi had to take a seat on the Falcon after the Death Star said "hi and bye" to Leia's homeworld.
I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.
You should get a full tower, slap a bunch of hard drives in there, attach IDE to FireWire converters on the back of each hard drive, connect all of those to a FireWire hub, attach those via one cable to your network through one system, add a 750W psu and attach a flip switch to power on those puppies and BAM!... have yourself a fucking kick ass file storage system.
