i have considered not having kids because i dont want them growing up in a shit time. war, greed, vanity.... the world seems to be going down the shitter. more and more as a society are we valuing looks and wealth. not to mention kids sitting around on their computers and playing video games all day... raising kids is going to be tough work these days...

^^ I doubt the Youth of today has it easier...I think it is more the other way around. Of course we have all the luxury goods and products you could not think of in the 80ties or earlier but on the other side...when I grew up I had way more freedom than kids have today. I was able to ride my bike wherever I wanted and was allowed to play in forests and build treehouses. Even tuning my motobike was ok (not allowed though of course) back in time because we kids knew the cops and they gave us more freedom or better said let things slip without taking actions against us. Nowadays, since even kids can have guns and knifes and because too many douches broke too many boundaries most cops give a damn about them anmyore. Today when kids go to the forrest or somewhere else...there is always somebody telling them it is not allowed and this applies to almost everything they do. Not allowed because of this, forbidden because of that..blah bleh bluh. I would not want to be a kid nowadays especially with all the pressure of brand clothes, ultra cool and newest mobiles, becoming successful at a very young age already and what not else.

Rasing kids was tough for every generation. There was no time in history where you could say "now is a great time to have kids" because we always had problems like wars, discrimination of minorities, now the problem with climatic changes and many more things. If you want a kid, make one and don't think about tomorrow as far as it is about society problems. Of course you should have a plan how you can take care your kid gets a good education and have to think about the future but most of the rest is not in your hands so why bother about it? Kids survived WWI, WWII and many other wars and some turned out stronger than the generation before.

Sure there can be a war when your kid is 10 years old or earth will explode in 2020 when we have finally blown enough shit in the air. But you can always take care your kid grows up half way safely and has a good life as long as it lasts because most of it is in your responsibilty. If your kid plays too much on his Xbox it is up to the parents to show them alternatives and make them move from the couch.

And the 13 inch was in black and white.
if you remember when their weren't remote controls, you must be really old. As remots came out in the mid 70's. Just not in televisions everyone could afford...they were like the plasmas of today.

We musn't forget about cell phones...when you actually had to be at home to call someone.

I truly think all this technology and the crap coming from the television is a direct action to the failing IQ Americans have. We're more obsessed with American Idol than listening to some real music.

is it inevitable that everyone at one point will start talking like an old man saying things like "when i was growing up....." "back in the day......" "it was tougher back then......"
                    "i remember when......." oh god.

i might just have to go to a antique store and pick up an old 8 track and a couple Kiss and AC/DC 8 track tapes.

                            Uhhh

Unless the handling of first class mail went through a truly significant change in the past 40 years, which it may well have, then there's no reason it should take a week for a letter to get from A to B within the continental United States.

                            2-3 days, tops.
