If you dig a bit deeper, there is such so much great stuff out there that that will make you see things differently. And from many of the other recommendations in this thread, I'm happy to see that others know this to be true.

Here are three relatively recent ones that did it for me.

    Martinez - Restructured Layers

    Billy Dalessandro - Starcity

    Antonelli - Live in Tokyo

id like to hear these... where's the best place to pick em up? id be easy w/ emusic, but no dice... and i like to support insound as well, but no dice there... bit wary about the martinez as i hate label mixes, even tho it looks as if he put a lot of work into dicing it up and making it his own (and i do have some tracks on that label), i never buy them cause they seem to be to restrictive to me... and sucky.

That's the problem...there's really no way to get them except to mail order em at some online venue, typically overseas and for a good chunk of change. Juno tends to have a lot - maybe amazon (if you're lucky)...unless you happen to live in a real city with some amazing locally owned music shop. Your average regular music store will of course be worthless.

              Nostalgic bit:
I remember growing up, even in a place like Columbus, OH, I could walk to my favorite spots on high st. and find real electronic music of all kinds - stuff like those selections I talked about. Now, all of those places are dead or are catering to 35 year old house moms and teens with a taste for some pop-based shit they saw on American Idol.

              It's fucking PATHETIC.

And sad...I guess I was pretty much the only person buying those CDs.

but such is the way of things.

Anything by Ulrich Schnauss. He's a genius. Lately I have discovered Cliff Martinez, he did the original score for the Solaris film.
