some of our customers are internet radios and I actually oversee the operations of two quite big ones.
this is a more realistic descriptionof the problem imo:

          next up in line....

paying 100 to get into a club, as we need to pay the producers for listening to music there.....stupid politicians... and greedy greedy mainstream music (fuck U2, metallica, and everyone else that is only in music for money). ask metallica how many fans that showed up for the ...and justice for all tour actually showed up to their recent tours. and shame on us for still paying and attending. we should make a statement and boycott U2 shows. nothing like giving them 1000 bucks for decent seats at madison square garden and then seeing them bitch b/c some 13 year old shared the pop album.

Can't these internet radio station simply base themselves in a country with more common sense?

Whoever thought first that it is ok that a singer should earn 10.000 x as much as a regular worker should be shot using a time machine to kill him in time. Viva la underground and fuck mainstream is all I have to say to this. If you are not here for the music or think you deserve to have a golden toilet because you make such amazing songs and albums get a reality check.

Re: More bad news for stream radio stations.

This all looks like a try to get a grip on something that wont be caught in the end, but before they realize it they're going to ru?n the experience called 'music' for a lot of people by throwing ropes around their necks in a desperate attempt to squeeze more money out of the business. The listeners as well as the musicians, because if listening is prohibited, who's going to be heard?

You'd almost think this is an attempt to make music exclusive to a small group of people who have the money to pay for it. Or to root out any alternative genre that might have more depth than the average crap released by Britney Spears and clones.

                      I say: illegal parteez.

i,m with u on this one, if they try to make it harder for internet radio etc to be used then it will just drive it underground and we'll go back to the illegal radio days of the early 90's

The ONLY exceptions to this are (A) direct deals with each and every sound recording copyright owner, (B) copyright owners that are willing to make a blanket "waive" of fees, or (C) non-copyright, public domain music.
