    Re: Learning Chinese

I'm itching to learn a language too. I've got two choices - Spanish or Thai.

Spanish would definately be the easier of the two, plus my mum and some good friends of mine speak it. Thai would have to be one of the hardest languages in the world, but I just feel like learning it for shits and giggles.

If anyone can start me off on some reading for what I'm getting myself in to for learning Thai, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Wife and I are going to take French, mainly because we drink a ton of French wine, and we're both tired of fucking up the names of the wineries when we talk about them. Le poo we we!

Fuck that -- just learn French pronunciation -- it's a useless language because even when you speak it in France, the locals ae totally unwilling to talk to you...

When i say we're going to take french i really mean we're going to hit up one of those stl community evening things that are over and done with in a jiffy. We're not looking to be fluent, or even ask where the bathroom is, just want to be able to read wine labels and not sound like americans.

You'll always sound like an American you fucking snob. It's one of the things you have in common with the Dutchies: pronuciation raping

My pronunciation of other languages is outstanding, was pretty much my major, except for those damn french. And it's not being a snob, if you lived in the midwest, trust me, you'd do everything possible not to sound like some of these fucking dipshits.
