well that changes everything. do you think apple's little format is good enough to play out with?

You mean rip the tracks on a cd and play in a "live" session? or just rocking in the car?

                    Quick Summary:

" AAC was developed by the MPEG group that includes Dolby, Fraunhofer (FhG), AT&T, Sony and Nokia—companies that have also been involved in the development of audio codecs such as MP3 and AC3 (also known as Dolby Digital). The AAC codec in QuickTime builds upon new, state-of-the art signal processing technology from Dolby Laboratories and brings true variable bit rate (VBR) audio encoding to QuickTime. "

here is more info on apple aac: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/aac/

yes they are protected, but you can burn into a cd format and rip to mp3 if you want. To me I think the sound is incredible. I am not sure exactly what they are doing in the aac format but it sounds very good.

I buy from beatport and iTunes and I did a sound comparsion in my headphones, car, and home system. I did not notice a true difference. I bought the 320 version and the iTunes of the same song, granted I play my music loud, I actually personally enjoyed the iTunes version better.

thank you. i was curious if there was a noticeable difference between 320 and aac

There probably is. Perhaps because I have been to so many live shows I do not hear the difference.
