    Re: Mercuryserver 2007

    Mercuryserver mission statement

“We strive to be a community where we provide a "home" for our members to share, listen to, and discuss the best in electronic music, by providing a world class radio station and a diversified, well poulated, and interactive message board. Mercury is also a movement spearheaded by motivated and intelligent people to slowly dominate each and every agenda that their abilities can be associated with. Technology, Music, Computing, Internet have so far been the key components and will only continue to grow as time and financial resources add motivation and reason to become the catalysts which will only fuel this insatiable fire. The changes and growth are inevitable, the only challenge is time.”

    -------------------------------------------

We have come down a long road starting 2002 with an unspectacular but functional web interface to share a few mixes on a regular basis by consuming University servers to fulfill our requirements. Over the time we managed to stay independent and widened our Universe more and more with the help of member and community generated content and feedback. That’s what people like to call nowadays “Internet 2.0”. For us, its virtually nothing new….

Having our own web hosting company and running our EDM Portal, Mercuryserver is today with almost 13.000 registered users, serves up to a Terabyte of data transfer each month, and over 7 Million clicks and visits per month, which is something we are proud of. This is something that would have never been possible without the help from our friends.

Over the last months, a few positions in our team changed and the Gallery of Horror above reflects the actual team including our supporters. Without any of them, we would not be where we are today, provide what we do on a regular basis, and it would be nearly impossible to operate this site. From the bottom of our hearts, we respect and say thanks to ALLthe freelancers who dedicated their time, money, and resources to help us in our cause.

I would also like to use this moment and thank everybody who has helped [ms] in the past by giving [ms] its own soul and general attitude today, by adding their personality and abilities. The list is long and goes from Algy to Sheppie, Rocker and Kelly, The Cross and PsynceFiction to Ubiqe, Palmer, Skahound, Hos, two, Chemicalbeavis and Yao. Thanks to all of you for what you have done. If I forgot somebody on this list sorry in advance. I am old - go and help me over the street.

The other two key elements of Mercuryserver are the artists who continue to support us by sticking around and of course our unique community. When I check what people post, I see passion dripping out of a lot of posts – be it negative or positive. We fight over the smallest things, just like on every other message board, where people from all over the world with their individual values and cultures are posting but half an hour later we laugh together about the silliest and most immature jokes and I like that a lot and it motivates me to proceed. Also our die hard donators like Maff and Dawn and all the others supporting us even in a financially way show us that we do something right and you want more.

What’s up else in 2007? Well we just launched MCast and a little bird told me that a new wave of shirts is in the process of being printed at the moment. In May 2007, Mercuryserver will become five years old and we will make this a special event for sure as well. More info coming when the time is right so stay tuned.
