    Re: CPU Fan

^ ^ Are you looking to add an upgrade to an existing mainboard in your possession or are you looking to upgrade that as well? I need details, duder.
If you're just going by either an Athlon or Opteron, I'd go with the Opty all the way. I OC'd this thing without having to bump up the voltage and it's just air-cooled at the moment. The cpu test report told me I can get it to go over 3.0GHz but I bet I'll have to water cool that sucker then.

simply swap the CPU on my mobo, which is an (socket AM2) Asus M2N-E nF570U. Looking to upgrade my chip around summer time, but i'm not sure wether i can afford the new quadcores, so in that case i'd go for the faster in dual core my money can buy me ;-)

Then you definitely would want an Opteron for that bad boy.

In that case I'd love to get my hands on either this one http://www.alternate.nl/html/product...l?artno=HE1A50 or maybe this one if it comes with 2MB L2 cache http://www.alternate.nl/html/product...l?artno=HEEA51. And the energy efficient version if possible.

the fans I have also accumulate the dust too just from years of usage/running...popped the unit out, grab a little damp cloth, unscrewed the fans from the casing and wiped down the crevices & blades...problem solved. I also did it because they needed some oiling up as they were running loud as a motherfuck...

Why do you people accumulate dust? You don't put screen filters on your intake fans?

hey Beanz, I didn't know there was such a thing as screen filters? I'm going to look around for a less noisy case too btw, I want an Arctic Silentium .

^^ My hunt for that is on as well, will get a gigantic copper cooler and mount a fan blowing air through it towards the rear fan - I think MASSCOOL makes a CPU cooler like that

I also bought silent case fans (they were like $1.97 each) so I'll give those a testing today and post some feedback

Or just watercool the system, get some Yate Loons and down tune them on a CM Stacker 810 and you won't hear shit. The only way to tell that my brother's system is on is by the power light and the monitor. That thing is dead silent. Kills me.
