Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
Probably won't escalate into anything serious... but definitely not a good move....you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky
it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
what will be more interesting is if iran pulls the typical middle eastern bullshit and refuses to hand them over citing a law within thier own nation and some other BS. then the reaction of britian.
add in the fact that they openly said they will illegally continue thier nuke work... maybe the UN will act without the US(for once)your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
I'm guessing they'll hand em back once they have sufficiently played footsie with the UK for a minute or two. They're not dumb...they just want to piss the Brits off and demonstrate to the Europeans that they've got some balls.mixes: www.waxdj.com/miroslavComment

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
goddamn. they are really gonna screw shit up in the middle east, just out of spite.
the oil market is getting hurt, relations are dying, when in fact, iran could do some real good if they actually tried to help as opposed to stir the pot, and iran keeps yelling at the US when we havent done shit to them outside of agree to the sanctions. they are begging for a fight, no one wants to give it to them, so they keep stepping on toes, whether it be through sending IRG agents into iraq to help the "insurgents", or this.
in reality, i hope they take a better stance and release them and step up to help iraq, as they can potentially have a truly great effect on the nation's long term peace.
in my opinionated head, i hope the EU lays the law down and takes the soldiers. send in a battle carrier group to the gulf, and start sinking the iranian navy one ship at a time. let em know that the world at large will stand up against them. and at this point, with everything from pakistan to gaza, maybe its time for everyone else to walk in the door and straighen out the house known as the middle east.
but damn, can they cut the shit, let this crap pass, and make a bit of olive branch concessions like nuke work monitors, maybe a positive showing in iraq, and cut the calls for "death to jews".
these assholes just dont get it.your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
The war in Iran will begin in April I think.. The government will say they are trying to negotiate over the next month and then they will go in saying they did everything they could to prevent this.Comment

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
i just wish we could all abandon all the crap and get along and help each other. but nope, people want power, some want to kill, others like iran just want press and to let everyone know "we're still here". the world at large would actually help and benifit them if they just dropped the bullshit and acted nicely.
eh, that section of the world is fucked, just look at the riots in yemen the other day. they overreact to everything, and just cant realize that people are different.
sadly, the EU will probably show solidarity and stick it up iran's patoot by either putting an economic stranglehold on them, or going the distance and taking the soldiers back through a military intervention.
edit
i wonder if Iran is extending the proper rights to these boys. bible handed to them with gloves on, proper friday lent meal, right to see a preist and pray, etc.
ummm wait i know the answer.Last edited by thesightless; March 26, 2007, 06:58:17 PM.your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
the EU pledged solidarity on this. good for them. a united europe is better for everyone. if the UK ends up being forced to play a military hand, the EU has said they will back them. this happened on Day 1 when merkel said to iran they are against this action.your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
if they dont relase the soldiers by friday, britain should simply go get em. fly an entire sqaudran right in, get the boys, and destroy the only refinery in iran on the way out, and level a few airfeilds and naval yards while your at it.
stop pussy footing, and stand up for yourself. weakness invites aggression. and the middle eastern people are the assholes who shit on everyone. evidenced by the last millenium's worth of violence over some asshole named mohammed who needed his warrior tribes to shape up. shame.your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: Iran captures British Forces at Gunpoint
The fact that this is even getting a great amount of attention is proof of the sort of hypocritical stance the US (and the West in general at times) seems to take with countries deemed "our enemies." The US has been seizing "enemy combatants" from other countries for years now, sending them to the Guantanamo for "coercive interrogation" with little to no outrage from anyone in the West. Iran does it to Britain, and all of a sudden it's called out as intolerable. I don't think the West has a principled leg to stand on here.
Iran has shown over and over again there willingness to engage in negotiations. It's the West that has refused negotiations in favor of sanctions (read: punishment for not doing what we say). At the end of the day, the policy with Iran has nothing to do with terrorism or nonproliferation. The policy at the end of the day is regime change. In 1953, the US initiated a CIA coup to overthrow Iran's then freely elected, National ist government in favor of a Western friendly monarchy. Iran and the West were buddy buddy during the proceeding decades following, even helping Iran initiate it's nuclear energy program back in 1957. In 1976, the Ford Administration (w/then Chief of Staff Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld) were all about Iran developing nuclear energy. Then, in 1979, after massive protests, the brutal monarchy was driven out in favor of a popular theocratic government. The West has refused to recognize Iran's theocracy ever since it was installed with popular support in the late 70's. There is no substantial evidence supporting accusations of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons. Look at the actual evidence. Check the IAEA inspector reports. Iran's nuclear program is not illegal. Iran is a member of the NPT and are guaranteed the right to develop peaceful nuclear energy.
Why can't we engage Iran with proper diplomacy instead of playing around with the same sort of diplomacy (or lack thereof) we used with Iraq?Comment
