I saw a few comments in the WMC forum but there weren't any decent/in depth reports. How was Diggers at the Pawnshop and Sasha & Digweed at Mansion - the feedback I've has so far is that Digweed was bang on the money, but Sasha's still playing the same uninspiring stuff he had in Q4 of last year (Thom Yorke's - Eraser remix being the exception and only real standout track) ... is this true, if so, WTF has Sasha been doing in the studio for the past few months ? Also I heard Hernan's been playing some quality stuff (well he always does) -Fortier and Luke Fair are in town, how are their record/CD boxes sounding ?

Nothing related to the WMC but last night I went to see Guy Gerber play here in Lausanne , and the guy is a fucking B 52 bomber, played for 3.5 h and each track was DA fucking bomb, banging and dirty beats all night long, played alot of remixes of his time stoppage. I encourage everyone to go see him if they have the chance without thinking twice. -

I went to both Digweed @ Pawnshop and Sasha/Digweed @ Mansion. Imo, Sasha kicked ass Thursday at Mansion. I had a better time at the Mansion show than Pawnshop gig.
Sasha did play a few tracks everyone knows like Thom Yorke and Audion at the end. However, he really had the crowd going wild while he played. Imo, Sasha outplayed Digweed even though Digweed was good too.
Digweed started off around 12:30 and opened with some strong tracks unlike his Pawn Shop gig. I guess he had more time to build his set at the Pawn Shop. Digweed and Sasha would switch off throughout the night with them going back to back in the last hour.
As for the Pawnshop gig, Digweed came on around midnight and played mostly opening set stuff until around 2 or 3. He would throw in a good track to tease us until he got into his usual Digweed groove later in the morning. I look forward to hearing the later hours of his set on Transitions because the early part of his set was boring, but great later.

Cheers Superdave .. seems like we have different tastes - I love it when Diggers starts it slow and builds things. Glad you had a good time.sigpicSimonR

digs came on about midnight at pawnshop, and kept the warmup feel going for 3 hours. as superdave said he would throw in these bigger tunes from time to time just teasing us, but around 3:30am he unleashed the houndz. super sick basslines, big blowup tracks here and there but overall he had a steady driving force of sound up til that psychout track started skipping. he had to kill it and start fresh with another tune but obviously within a couple minutes he had the momentum built right back up. seemed like another 30 minutes or so went by and another track started skipping so he was shaking his head and a bit pissed off. still he kept droppin sick tracks til the end. think we were only 10 minutes or so short of a 6 hour set, but overall i was pleased and battered when i left.Comment

Nice one Jib : if he airs it the skipped tracks will have to be the perfect foil for those annoying Kiss100 add breaks ! Its a shame that Slacker track stuck.sigpicSimonR

Re: Any WMC reports ? How Diggers @Pawnshop
the feedback you got on sasha is laughable, sounds like somebody hates him regardless because he was on point on thursday. definitely the crowd fav that night. he seemed to always put out the bangers while digweed seemed like he was trying to do too much, i couldnt get that much into him...this same thing happened for new years in LA a few months back...
and....videos coming soon, i think i have at least 5 minutes worth....Comment

The feedback was from a former (majorly big) Sasha fan thats not been too fussed on Diggers - but it seems that I too don't dig the stuff that Sasha's been playing either (diluted drums replaced by a strange clicking sound, and a complete absence of the sonic lush soundscapes of the previous 10-years). Personally, Diggers has been far better the last 18-months ; putting his recent "dasding_plattenleger" set alongside Sasha's recent "Ultra", set there's simply no comparison - Sasha's standout track is Eraser, and he used to have another 6-8 on that level in his box in the good old days (with high quality dark progressive productions to build it in between). He peaked at his legendary Space Terrace/Discoteque (2004) 8-hour Birthday bash playing for a final time off vinyl/CD (albeit with an ititially hopeful 2005 Essential Mix/Fabric show on ableton); bring back Breeder and kick out the acid !sigpicSimonR
