    therapy in providence, Rhode island...

    is this place any good?

nick warren is playing there next month, and i have been on a nick warren binge and havent seen him play in almost 6 years. and frankly, outside of diggers and romero, he is my fav.

so i ask, is it worth it to go up for this show? hotels in area?

    MS ppl in the area?

any ideas? ( i hope this isnt a shithole like the boston clubs that have to close early.)

dying to rock out to nick .....

err, ok... therapy, wow. it does not close early, its an after hours joint. picture hundreds of meathead guidos looking for a place to do more coke (that being said its all second hand info, as i never had friends to go w/ and it was usually cheesy as fuck). i lived in providence for 7yrs, and still have tons of friends there, but i will most likely be passing on said event. if you do go i will sort you out with hotel info and directions. i have a friend who works in the hotel business and i will see what i can do. i do spend a lot of time in pvd and if i am in the area i would meet you for a beer im sure... and who knows if i had nothing to do maybe id check it out... but the venue, wow. id make for a good story

I saw Nick 2 weekends ago at Future music festival here in Sydney.

He rocked it. He played on the main stage (20,000 capacity, albeit not all were at the main stage).

It was proper prog straight out of 2002. Songs which took ages to build, hypnotic grooves which tapped away at your brain, with new elements slowly introduced.

It really felt like 2002 but with new songs. It was fantastic and totally took me by surprise. Set of the day for me and there were some big names at this festival. No electro rubbish or songs trying too hard to be trippy and sounding like nothing more than a game of pong.

In conclusion I think you should definately be going out of your way to catch him!

ok it doesnt look as bad as i heard, but i know what the surrounded area is like, and its not great. seeing the date, i most likely will not be there. i hope to be at carl craig the previous night in boston at rise, and this night is my birthday... which will be spent w/ my non house friends most likely

the area is a shithole (old warehouse section of town)...but the club itself is a pure afterhours spot (does serve early, but closes off at 2)...but it's also done up nicely inside with the lights & sound.

If memory serves me right, Nick was given a 4-hour slot. It's an all-nighter lineup w/the 3-room deal, so it might get a bit "raverish" at times

              Main Room:
              Nick Warren
              Samsara
              Jack McDevitt
Bang Lee & Ann K w/ Fubar on drums

              2nd Room: breaks | drum n' bass
              Dylan
              Terravita
Silva Bullets aka Mess & Fess
              DL
              Event Horizon
              Keith Krimson

3rd Room: just a bunch of locals
              Knowlton Walsh
              Elijah
              Dupe
              Koleco

Re: therapy in providence, Rhode island...

I second FM's review - the location is a pit but once you get inside it's a nice little spot. Intimate vibe, good layout, main room is a decent size, secondary rooms offer a nice place to chill out for a bit. It's an afterhours spot so you're going to get the crackheads, that's to be expected, but every time I've been there the crowd has never been an issue. And it always seems to attract some smoking hot girls, not to mention the fact that one of the hottest bartenders I've ever seen in my life works there - always a plus.

Compared to some of the other places I've been to, it's rather well run top to bottom - the bouncers aren't complete dicks and the staff is modestly accomodating, . I don't know shit about the people that orchestrate the place, they could be asshats for all I know, but as far as afterhours places go I'd say it's worth the trip.

Samsara, aka Naveen G (I'm pretty sure....could be wrong though). Wicked producer. Defo go!

btw...right after nick warren is Dubfire/Mojo there. The location might be shit. Even the venue may be questionable. But the talent, so far that I've found, is top notch.
