    MCast> Shows on demand

    MCast – Automated variant music

On August 24th @ 4 PM EST Jason Jollins played the last mix that aired on our former radio station Mercurysessions. This was a sad day for all of us and especially the Mercurysessions team. After running it for over a year we had to realize that we couldn't proceed with our underground internet radio program for various different reasons. Those who have known us for some time already know that we never give up yet always strive to break boundaries and continue with what we do no matter how bad the circumstances. We are here for the music.

We are running Mercuryserver and everything that is related to it since 2002 and the day we announced the end of Mercurysessions we already had a rough concept for our next generation service. It is amazing how almost every available & affordable bandwidth has changed our way to consume music. Online radio stations air shows live at an exact time and date, thus limiting the listeners due to time zones, competing radio stations and people’s desire to listen to music at a time that they want to listen to it.

This is what the basic approach of MCast is focussed on. Instead of taking care of a busy broadcasting schedule which is a full time job if you do it right and “forcing” listeners to tune in at the time the mix airs we offer music the way you want it and it waits for you to listen whenever and however you like. Imagine having your favourite DJ shows available 24 hours a day 365 days per year. If this sounds yummy to you MCast should be a good reason to stop by and check it out.

MCast is a free on demand music website featuring resident artists and their guest mixes. We go live with a mixture of artists we have already featured on Mercurysessions and new residencies. The monthly mixes from our eleven artists we start with can be streamed on demand at any time you want to listen to them. You can also download all mixes in high quality mp3 format. As a third but more and more important option for 21st century users, you can also subscribe to our podcast and be able to grab every new mix you are interested in with a few clicks only if you use ITunes or compatible software. Thanks to everybody behind the scenes who helped to get MCast off the ground and thanks to our artists for their ongoing support.
