I no this might sound lame...but I have a movie and I really want to burn it to my hard drive. Do I have to buy software or can I do it for free???

You want to burn it to your hard drive? So you just want to have a copy of it on your hard drive correct? Go download DVD Shrink for free and select backup copy and you're golden.

While beanz has given the best option to burn DVDs, sometimes Ripping DVDs with DVD Shrink can be twitchy, in that case use DVD Decrypter.

        Both are freewares.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

You just contradicted yourself if one uses the standard setup of ripping to hard drive (when the original DVD is larger than the capacity of a single or dual-layer DVD-/+R, etc.) because a standard setup will backup the files to your hard drive and then ask you to insert the disc for autoburn.

Get Daemon Tools and make the disc a virtual drive and watch it. Or... there are many free media players out there that will play those files on your system.

huh ? How did I contradict myself when all I said is that DVD Shrink can be twitchy at ripping ?

Anyhow if you want to watch a ripped movie from your HD, just download VLC Media Player. Again its free and it can play a MYRIAD of file formats including files saved as .BIN which I thought was pretty cool.

No way apollo...I never thought of that. Wow what great insight. You have really helped me out. What a productive post. I always thought that forums might be used for a easy way to get information from people that actually know what their talking about, but you made me realize the error of my ways.

I don't think you read the rest of my reasoning because in there I stated exactly why it was a contradiction. Sorry, I shouldn't have been so clear.

I understand why he posted the comment about google. People are just way too lazy and want everything spoon fed to them when all of their answers are right in front of them. Honestly, I think everyone should google on how to search for things. There are a plethora of online tutorials on how to do searches on regular search engines and meta-search engines. The more that learn this, the better your online experience will be.
There should also be a place for people to go to when they get irritated because someone suggested that they go to google. People shouldn't be offended because someone opened the door for them but didn't actually shove them in. You've got two feet. Go for it. Maybe try posting on grouphug.us. I know many people on this board go there regularly.
