      200
      800.

If you are getting close to spending money on an 800 either go all the way and upgrade to the 1000 imo or go with the 200. If you are willing to try other lines get something like a Denon S5000 (which is one of my fave models) over the 800. I have one CDJ 1000 MK2 and one Denon S5000 and each have their pro's and cons.

just curious why you favor the 200's. they do not have a "vinyl mode" so you cant do any scratching. im thinking of investing in a third deck and i was lookin at the 800's.. just curious why you mentioned the 200's.

      thanks

because if you are going to sport the money for the 800s, for vinyl emulation, might as well save a tad bit more and just get the 1000s

Because imo you either save a few hundred and go with the 200's or go all out and get the 1000's. At least for me there's no middle ground. $330 for a CDJ 200, CDJ 800 goes for $700, CDJ 1000 goes for 1,300 at PSL.

It's just personal preference. I couldn't afford a 2nd CDJ 1000 a year back but wanted something more hi-en and am not a fan whatsoever of the 800's so went with the Denon and am quite glad I went that route.

              Re: Pioneer CDJ800 vs CDJ1000

Let me get this straight, you're recommending the 1000's over the 800's because of price??? Sorry I don't think that's much of an argument. For the price of 1 CDJ 1000 you can get 2 CDJ 800s. "Save a little more cash"??? Try double what you already saved for one when you can have 2.

Some of us don't make enough money to splurge on CDJs but when peeps have some dough for the 800 and askfor an honest to god opinion on the performance and you just bust out the PSSL pricing guide? Sorry but I'm in a position to buy an 800 and lord knows I've scrimped for it. I came here looking for performance opinions and when I see a major debate point just be the price....just annoys me. Money is not the answer to performance.

                Re: Pioneer CDJ800 vs CDJ1000

I think the point he was trying to make is that if you go ahead and spare the added expense now and just purchase the CDJ 800s, you might find yourself outgrowing them sooner than you think... thus wishing you had gone with the 1000s to begin with.

PERFORMANCE wise the 1000s are superior to the 800s. I have played on both, and much prefer the jog wheel and brighter lighting/better viewing angle and finer pitch range of the 1000. Compared to the 800, the 1000 is a pro piece of kit. It feels a lot more well put together... and sturdiness is a factor if they are going to be used repeatedly in various environments. And you can get a pretty great deal on MK2 and MK3 1000s now... just check out electronicscity.com (PSSL is not the only place on the web).

That being said, if you just want something for home use and don't necessarily care about the high end characteristics and features of the 1000s, then by all means score the 800s.

From my experience, from personally buying the 800s instead of the 1000s when I had a chance (just to save money), I regretted it a year down the road.

OR fuck both ideas and just get Traktor Scratch and use your existing turntables! (saves money on buying 25542545 CDRs)

with technology advancing at the rapid pace that it is wonder why just one cdj1000 stil costs 1300 bones? seem a bit pricey.

if you are trying to get something cheaper are the 200 decent?

Because the Japanese have small penises and want the Big American Penises to buy at full price.

Did you play on the 800MK2 or the MK1? Apparently the MK2's platter is much, much more like the CDJ-1000.

I have the 1000 MK2's... bought them NEW for $929 each. Now the damn 1000MK3 came out and went UP in price. For a few features nobody really cares about...

CDJ-200 is priced right at $350 ish
                            CDJ-800 should be $600
                            CDJ-1000 should be $800
