.AUdio on Proton: JAMES ZABIELA (Sept 16)

Wow... 1 year has gone already since I first launched the .AUdio show. I'm pleased to bring you this special edition of the show that's going to absolutely rock your socks! Live, exclusive and extended - James Zabiela.

    The layout looks like this:

Thu, 5pm EST: Switch and McGuyver
These guys are a great local duo of producers and DJs, with their tracks being played by the likes of Diggers, Tom Stephan and Dave Mothersole. This tech house promo is so tight and fluid there's no way I couldn't put this on. Really fresh too - 2 weeks old.

Thu, 5.45pm EST: James Zabiela - 4 hr LIVE set from Lot 33, Canberra 2004
It's JZ - nuff said. This is from June 2004 and is the monster, unreleased follow-up from the very popular June 2003 Lot 33 set. James just melted the hell out of everything you can plug in and turn on, including me on the dancefloor. Just absolutely massive.

    Thu, 9.55pm EST: Sam McEwin
A member of the Melbourne Techno Collective, Sam's got the skills and the taste. A very appropriate cool off from JZ in the form of some wicked mixing while dripping minimal tech and oozing electro, mixed specifically for this program. Super fresh as well - mixed only a week ago.

What a fantastic way to celebrate .AUdio first anniversary! An awesome year of awesome music. Danny Howells, Kasey Taylor, Hybrid, Steve Gerrard, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Steve Porter, Chris Fortier and the phenomenal Robbie Lowe (keep an eye on the Nov 04 installment!) plus heaps more have made everything that is .AUdio so damn fine!

Thanks for all your support guys - mercuryserver has been fantastic. There's heaps more beats coming straight from the mixer to your eardrums too, so keep it locked.

Streaming the best in electronic music live and On Demand. Breaks, Minimal, Progressive, House, Techno, Electro, and more on 200+ exclusive shows.

Yeah, I don't seem to be able to 'win' with the stream rippers I'm afraid. As most of you will know - if I get the approval to release something afterwards, I always do. Unfortunately if I give that info up front then nobody actually listens to the program though!

Hey Jenks - those two promos either side of JZ are absolutely spot on for tech house lovers. The Switch & McGuyver one is really solid dancefloor style stuff, and the Sam McEwin set is more of a listener's choice... more twisted and based in minimal tech. I fucking love 'em both.

Proton has also changed my scheduling so as of next month I will no longer have these very long shows - I'll be limited to 3 hrs from here on in unfortunately. Catch the last of the super-extended .AUdio format while you can!

Re: .AUdio on Proton: JAMES ZABIELA (Sept 16)

Well, the scheduling for all Proton's shows are being re-evaluated because there's a whole stack of new programs coming on and from October there will someone doing a show after mine. Previously I was the last show of the day's fixed broadcast schedule, so I could run as long as I wanted to - and certainly took advantage of that!

Now - as usual - I'm pushing for an even better timeslot to maximise the listening audience. Here's hoping Sam can slip me that perfect spot.

Grant, there's no need to tell us all how great your show is...we're all quite aware of the quality that you have brought us month in and month out

Now as for the supporting sets that you've played, now that's where the true surprising quality comes in. Some names I've heard of but not much of and others that I've been introduced to through your show (still enjoy that Justin & Piero show tremendously). Keep up the great work and next time I actually find myself over on your end of the world please LET me buy you at least a few drinks

Haha. Thanks mate.. it's agreed - the next round's on you!

Fear not - Justin & Piero will definitely be back. They're playing at Sasha's Involver tour in about 6 weeks, along with a warmup from Robbie Lowe - so maybe I can get something worked out for recording at that event. Word is that Sasha's not real keen on approving recordings for anything but festivals so that might count things out. But this little covert duck has a few tricks up his sleeve, so let's see what happens!

On another slant, as I type this I'm transferring Matthew Dekay's live set off DAT from last Saturday night. Everybody was thrilled at just how tight this guy is ...plenty of dancefloor devastation for fans of a more pumped up sound. Hopefully he gives the nod to release!
