              turn into www.wfan.com right now.

franscesca and russo are about to go off on behalf of Imus. they have kids, parents, vendors, and more... seriously, listen in.

              and i quote

"today, is the voice for imus, for all the people that are alive because of him, for everyone he helps, for his family, and if it costs us our jobs, so be it"

they, btw, are the original sports talk pariing, and the highest rated sports show outside of the NFL pre game.

No argument here. They are both a bunch of judgemental pricks.

                      Re: Should Imus resign?

What gets me is how quickly CBS, MSNBC, and the sponsors all gave in to Sharpton, Jackson, and the other groups. They didn't support Imus at all considering all the money and years service he put in with those employers and sponsors.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are race vultures. Their livelihood depends on situations like this. It would be different if they were making a difference and changing things. They haven't been sucessful with rap artists so far.

I guess this proves we really don't have freedom of speech any longer or we lost it already. You can say what you want, but there are consequences which really isn't freedom.

ah yes...perhaps the single most misunderstood Constitutional amendment, ever. The First Amendment only says that Congress can't pass legislation that restricts your freedom of speech.

It was never intended to mean that no one can in any way restrict your freedom of speech - particularly private entities.

There have always been restrictions to your freedom of speech and there have always been consequences to be faced. That's "normal" in pretty much every society I can think of.

Right. There is no law that says people can't pass judgement on you for exercising your free speech.

I don't really care if Imus got fired or not. The part that I am concerned about is how this is such a pathetic case of selective outrage. Guys like Sharpton and Jackson are grandstanding this issue because a white guy said something about black girls But they won't lift a finger to get at the more serious issue of rap culture which is becoming mainstream and is glorifying the sort of behavior which Imus was mocking.

You can't expect to have that much power and be able to say what you want. He abused his privilege of air time. Had he used a little more tact, then this would not have happened.
