    Jeff Weaver

    People of Seattle, Jeff Weaver.
    Jeff Weaver, people of Seattle.

2 disastrous innings pitched, 31.50 ERA.

Get used to it -- he may have pitched great during October, but he was terrible the rest of the year. Guess it's obvious why we didn't buck up for him?

I'm not bitter about him leaving, BTW -- I hated him most of the time in a Cardinal uniform, and I was glad we didn't keep him. It is always nice to have your beliefs validated, though...

    how jealous are you!?!?!?!

i guess you realized like i did. in st lou, he would have been gold. your damn pitching coach can take a 10 year old and teach him to get out pros.

btw, wanna place a bet that arod ends up replacing a tired, injured rolen?

That's just it. Weaver is not a great pitcher. Some might say he's a pretty bad pitcher. Still others might say he's a fucking awful pitcher. Duncan has a way of squeezing the most out of the guys on our pitching staff, though, and St. Louis is one of a very short list of places where a guy like Weaver can expect to do anything at all, IMO.

Not eager to see A-Rod in Cardinal red. I hope Rolen manages to get back up to speed, if only to avoid having to go buy yet another Cardinal jersey...

why not, step away from fan-dom, and be objective.

as much as people wanna say he will stay in NY or go to chi town, both teams have actually hinted away. cubs have a LOT of payroll to be handed out in the next year, and may not be able to pay him. unless he hits like paul o neill in the playoffs, he will leave NY. so where else is a third baseman/SS needed, with payroll available, and another big star to play with alex..... rolen's done. and so is edmunds. they have the money, as they dont pay thier staff well right now. and what a better way to get butts in the park than having those two monsters playing at the corners......

I hear what you're saying, but he's still under contract and as long as he wants to play for the Cards, I don't see the Cards trading him or benching him. I just don't. My opinion.

                    har har douchebag.

im saying its possible and even makes sense factoring in payroll, an aging, declining rolen, small shit market with zero pressure.

your fans cheer the opposing team and you have 2 newspapers!!!!

please, dont even tell me st lou is a major market. that is a bunk arguement. you won the series, and half the country forgot about it in 2 weeks.

Lemme see if I got this straight -- you describe St. Louis as a "small shit market" and you think I'm reacting to the word "small?"

We've been over this before. St. Louis fans will begrudgingly applaud an opponent's good play in the field because we're fans of the game of baseball. We'll also offer heartfelt congratulations to opposing players that happen to reach career milestones while at Busch, like when Tony Gwynn was heading towards hit number 3000, for the same reason. I have season tickets and have been to I don't know how many games since I've lived in St. Louis, and I can't think of a single instance where we "cheered the opposing team."

There was a post on here after the Astros beat the Cards in the NLCS two seasons ago where someone commented on hearing St. Louis fans cheering "Let's Go Astros" on TV after the game. I was at that game and didn't have the heart to correct the guy at the time because he was so impressed by it, but the actual chant was "Let's Go Cardinals," as you might expect. It was the last game played at Busch ever, FFS -- think we're going to waste the moment cheering on the other team?

So, with that said, I'm curious to hear where you developed the absurd notion that Cardinals fans "cheer the opposing team." It is, quite simply, dead wrong.

As an aside, we only have one newspaper -- not that it matters because it's a rag, but it further highlights that you clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about.
