So I meet up with owner of a really cool lounge / club. I wasn't expecting much just have a few drinks and maybe play a night in the summer with some other DJs. So this owner asks me if I have a crew or know some DJs. I say I know a few DJs (which I really don't). Anyways basically he has given me a night to do whatever I want in three weeks. I want to know what to do because I am stunned about how to handle the situation.

Re: Given a place to play
Well first off, you better jump on a local message board and meet some DJs!
Second, I'm sure he expects you to do some promoting for the night, so you better come up with a name at least for the night and design a flyer.
Is this going to be a weekly or monthly thing?Piss off you phucking wanksters! -
Re: Given a place to play
if it's for a lounge/club, the club should be able to pay for you to make some flyers. I don't reccommend making big flyers. Just ones that are 3 inch squares is big enough for a nice flyer.
Just make sure you don't give over the night to anyone else...It's YOUR night to showcase yourself and other dj's. And make sure you let everyone know that.Comment

What he told me was if I can bring in a big enough crowd I will be signed up to do more nights during the summer.Comment

Re: Given a place to play
Get involved with the Udder Madness guys, they are in Denver and they do a lot of good parties from what I've read and heard.
If you want to keep this going then this would be your best bet with the amount of time you have.
Cheers!Piss off you phucking wanksters!Comment

Re: Given a place to play
Make up an 8X10" flyer on your computer. And print out about 30 Copies. Then take them to that club and put them in the bathrooms so that when people go in there, they see what's coming up soon. Then go and put one in the window of the club so people walking by can see it. Then go to a few of the nicer shops around town and ask if you can put one of these up in their window. Always be extremely polite when doing that. Maybe even ask them if they would like to be involved in one way or another.
Use your imagination to it's full extent and you will see way more people in there than you expected.Comment
