Same thing I was thinking. Don't think I will get rid of mine, ever. Even if they become obsolete, they will always be a great conversation piece and maybe something for my kids to check out and experience.

On the weekends, while I clean my room, I like to throw on the occasional record and let it spin away on my turntable.

No mixing, no beat matching, just playing great records, remembering the good old times of 97-00...the first record ends, I move the crossfader over and hit Play.

I then continue to pick up my dirty socks and clothes laying about.

Good times. Especially on a sunny weekend.

Anyone know how long the shelf life of Technics 1210's are?

I am seriously debating selling my decks and vinyl but if the technics will last for years I might just hold on to them?

If they are taken care of and oiled every once in awhile they will last f.o.r.e.v.e.r.

I sold a bunch of my records on ebay, the only ones that sold well were the trance classics I had. All the prog and house didn't sell well at all, and it was all really good quality stuff. Now I'm down to about three crates of vinyl that are my favs and I'll never part with those.

I've had my Techniques since 1995. I dont "oil" them or tune them up in any way. Just dont bang them, drop them etc. Mine are fine and as good as new to date.

Only thing. If I put 2 of the same records on and play them at the same time, the pitch might be off just a tad bit. Minor adjustment, beat matching is by listening anyway.

I've had my decks about 8 years with no problem, I've always looked after them.

I gues I'll hold on to them then!

i have about 900 vinyl, and i converted about 70% to wav form, then 50% of that to flac, then 80% of that to mp3.

whew! Took me a good 3-5 months..

i'm *finally* at the point where I can play stuff in ableton no prob..

buy a lot of digital tracks though. God $10 per vinly was so harsh.
