Keane in Trouble (again)
Manchester United skipper Keane in assault probe
Police were investigating claims that Manchester United captain Roy Keane was involved in an alleged assault of a teenage boy.
It has been alleged Keane became involved in an altercation with the 16-year-old on a golf course near his 1.4 million pound home outside Manchester when he was walking his dog 10 days ago.
Keane flew to France from Manchester Airport on Tuesday with the rest of his Man Utd teammates for their Champions League clash with Lyon.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said the force was carrying out an investigation.
"Police in Trafford are investigating reports that a 16-year-old boy was assaulted on Saturday, 4 September 2004," she said.
"Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing."
Keane, 33, and the teenager reportedly had a row before clashing as the player was walking his Labrador dog on Hale Golf Course.
Keane looked surprised at the mass of TV and press cameramen waiting at Manchester Airport when he arrived.
He quickly jumped the queue of other United players and officials who were signing autographs and chatting to fans as they waited to board.
Keane went to the check-in desk to show his passport then headed directly for VIP Fast Lane' departures.
The team boarded a private charter jet to Lyon.
It is not yet known when the Irish international will be questioned by Manchester Police officers.
A spokeswoman for Manchester United said: "We are not making any comment about this."
