does anyone on hear like public enemy, a tribe called quest, jungle brothers, ice cube, NWA, Ice T?? these are some of the artists i used to listen to. i will try think of the others i used to listen to and get back to ya
Didn't listen to them at the time, but I've become a fan of A Tribe Called Quest in the more recent past. Good stuff. Like jungle brothers, too. I listened to the others you mentioned back when they were popular, but they sound pretty hollow to me now -- just not a lot going on musically (with the possible exception of PE)...
^ ^ Did you get sick of the stuff or tastes have changed?
see what happened was i felt that those groups and indviduals i mentioned had kinda lost it by late 90.. I really was not digging public enemys newer stuff and same goes with the rest. i felt like it was all selling out. like jungle brothers.. their newer stuff is shit.. u can tell its all done for moneyand fame and not music.. that plus my tastes changed. it was around 1998 i was working with this guy Sam and he introduced me to Nother exposure.. at this stage i was listening to ministry of sound stuff. i loved their late night sessions cd's.. not sure if any of u a farmilar with them.. anyway he bought nothern exposure into work and said it will take a few listens for u to get into it etc..
The first few times i listened i really did not understand them.. but it was prob my 4th or 5th go i got hooked. i remember looking at the cd inlay and the way they had the tracks mixed etc and ever since then that was it. i feel like i missed out on alot of the acid house era.. not that i would have been old enough to go out but yeah i reckon that would have been a good era in dance music.. anyway sorry bout the long post and my life story
There is some current/recent hip hop that's still good. It's the commercial crap that's shit!. There always will be great unsigned underground freestyling hip hop, just have to dig through to find them.

yeah definitely agree...just a complete night and day difference with the real hip hop vs. the poser gangsta stuff. I'm surprised that people seem to prefer the latter so much, although I guess I shouldn't...seeing as how the majority of people always seems to listen to music that I think is shit.
If anyone is interested in listening to wu-tang clan you can on Exit festival this summer in Novi Sad (serbia). An excellent festival .Digweed is playing in the dance arene also among the others like Nic F. ,trentomoller,Danny Tenaglia etc...
