I was browsing Yahoo before going to bed and I saw a picture of Paul Oakenfold on its homepage next to the sentence "We spin the turntables to look at top searches on the men behind the wax. More..." After further investigation i found a short paragraph about popular "remix" DJ's. I copied and pasted below:
"Straight from the club to the radio airwaves, and flowing to music downloads and Internet chat rooms, DJs and their unique blend of musical tastes and styles pop up everywhere. And their ability to spin wax has transformed some turntablists into big-time stars. Old hands like Washington, D.C.-based duo Thievery Corporation and remix specialist Paul Oakenfold have experimented with layering different musical styles for years. But DJ Danger Mouse's work on rapper Jay-Z's much-bootlegged and much-searched-on Grey Album brought mash-ups -- smashing together old favorites on top of newer hits -- into the mainstream. DJ Tiesto, who was on the turntables at the Olympic opening ceremonies, has done remixes of artists from the Dave Matthews Band to Moby, and ranks among the top DJs in buzz. Long-time favorite Funkmaster Flex still cuts up buzz, with a 40% increase in searches this week. The list of top 5 DJs are rounded out by hip-hop master DJ Clue, followed by DJ Quik, DJ Screw, and DJ Green Lantern. "
