It works, but only up to a certain extent. A few years ago we had a doc here who organized roadshows during which he showed slideshows of the injuries suffered because of car crashes. Limbs with threads of flesh and muscle dingling down, crushed head, ... that sorta gore factor. Didn't really help though.
What helped overhere was a huge increase in alcohol controls during the weekends and a shitload more speed cams. Brought down accidents with 50%
