Body: ...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.



On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

hey, guess what...oil companies aren't villans, and they can't control the prices of oil through collusion. the market sets the demand for prices, and right now demand exceeds supply due to refining problems in the states. you shouldn't be protesting gas prices, you should be protesting poor refining capacity and procedures.

and whinning about gas prices. gas prices were higher, on an inflation adjusted basis, in the 1960s than they are today.

do you know the steps required to get a barrel of oil out of the ground? millions and millions and millions of dollars are spent on everything from siesmic data collection & modelling, to drilling, completing, fracturing, putting in artificial lift on a well, pumping it to a refinery...and yet a barrel of oil costs less than a barrel of WATER.

Leaving your car home once a while and go by bike or public transport instead will hurt the oil companies and the OPEC a lot more. Plus it's better for the environment

Really, with the energy hunger of our economies and especially China, energy prices will go up, no matter what you do (except for investing in clean energy that is) so not pumping gas one day doesn't do jack shit.

well said, but nearly every living being on this planet in one way shape or form utilizes gasoline for cars, public transportation, motors, generators, name it.... not every person buys bottled/purified water.
