Following the huge success of their ?Concert Raves? in Hearn Street, My Beautiful City are happy to announce their next collaboration with Go!Zilla alongside their first with Modular Records. Musically each partner has brought something special to the table and ensured a varied and diverse selection of quality music that embarks on electronica, rock and disco.
My Beautiful City and Go!Zilla?s partnership began with the Hearn Street Car Park parties, each brought an element from their prolific experience in hosting some of the most talked about parties in London from Robin?s high fashion ?Return to New York? parties, Terry?s ?Drama? and James? secretsundaze. This strong combination has now also brought in Modular Records, the label known for their massive parties in all over the UK, Paris, Berlin, NYC, LA and Sydney, as well as their recent downshift to an exclusive weekly party at Ditch Bar in East London. Individually these organisations are known for creating events that push the confines of what went before in terms of production and the marriage of different styles, attitudes and genres. The prospect of the three working together on an event makes for a frightfully incredible start to your May bank holiday weekly.
Radio Soulwax and 2ManyDJs need no introduction, infamous internationally for their unique live sets challenging genre boundaries and offering a series of seminal artist and compilation CDs that have sold millions Worldwide. Nite Versions live show tenders an interpretation of Soulwax?s ?Any Minute Now? album and gives a chance to see them showcase their various influences and inspirations.
The live music element of these collaborations continues to grow, with Modular?s latest exciting signing, Muscles, currently touring the US and Europe with Soulwax, as well as Foals, a band causing quite a stir right now, and deservedly so! Signed to Transgressive Records (home to the Young Knives), Foals secured and NME cover CD prior to even having released any tracks. They describe their sound as Korean pop with minimalist with afro-beats, but it?s basically dance music played with guitars. The way we wish the Rapture still sounded.
Sebastian has impressed with the first three releases on Ed Banger and remix work for Daft Punk and Annie, leading the way to a new French invasion for us and eccentric Scottish act Optimo loses a stray member for the weekend as JG Wilkes joins the event. Famed for their weekly event at renowned Glasgow haunt, Sub Club as well as remix work on hip-hop to electronica ?Wilkes? brings a charm from the distant north.
Room 2 will be hosted by Go!Zilla bringing the legendary Maurice Fulton, the DJ definition of eclectic. With releases on countless seminal labels such as Warp, Sonar Kollectiv, and Nuphonic, a recent an album with Kathy Diamond and one forthcoming with his beau, Mu, plus some tasty remixes for Hot Chip and Alice Russell, the one thing you can rely on Maurice for is to surprise and astound. A trait that is also true of Kitsune?s DJ Kaos, who has remixed for New Young Pony Club and Tom Vek and choice tunes tend to be tracks you hold as dear favourites. Completing the room is James Priestley, Go!Zilla?s faithful resident with a compilation CD forthcoming and a whole new season of secretsundaze about to be unleashed.
On top of all this, there?s music from Punks Jump Up, Disastronaught and Modular DJs and free beer for early birds from Baltika, Russia?s number one. The venue for now is a secret but promises to go beyond what went before and showcase live music alongside DJs on the finest platform. We hope you can join us to make the party as memorable as the few have become and continue to share our conquests for the future.
