I'm gonna be there next weekend on a last minute whim and was wondering:
1. What are good areas to stay in a hotel?
2. Anything going on friday or saturday?
Thanks in advance for any help.

MURK (Oscar G and Ralph Falcon) & Manzone & Strong @ TiL (This is London)

How much are you wanting to spent on a hotel? That will determine where to recommend

willing to spend money (well not ridiculous amounts) just don't know much about toronto and want to know what the nicer and most convenient areas are.
richie and magda...now that's a damn good one. What are the clubs hours (probably not getting in til late) and how's the seating (got to look out for the wife)?

The Four Seasons at Bay and Bloor is a nice place to stay. It's a little upscale, but in a good location. The Holiday Inn at King st. and John st. is more reasonably priced and in a fantastic location when it comes to shopping on Queen st., close to clubs and restaurants.
There is also a botique hotel in that area which is really nice. (Can't remember name right now, but if you want to know, let me know and I'll find out.)
Might check out Richie Hawtin myself. I imagine the Mod Club would stay open 'till about 4 or 5am
Awww...I didn't mean A holes, as in "A holes"...I meant it like, as in, my friends....

chnaty, thanks for the advice...that was around the area we were looking in. Ended up going with the Delta Chelsea Hotel...seemed a really good deal for a reasonable price and in the right area.
As for Hawtin, for as much as I'd love to go, we'll be getting in that night and I highly doubt the wife's going anywhere (at least not that night)...but with me you never really know

Well we really only had little more than a day and two nights there. We also went to Niagara Falls, Buffalo (to the home of the original Buffalo Wings...oh, so good!) and the Finger Lakes region in NY for some R&R in a B&B.
We just went around the city on one of the tourist buses (only because of the brief time we were there and having never been there before) which was quite fun and really a good way for us to get our bearings. Thanks to that, we better understand why the film industry has called Toronto "NYC North" in terms of filming movies there...It was quite fun spotting the places where movies were filmed all around the city (ie. kiss bridge from My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the theater from Chicago). Damn do I sound like such a tourist...
After that we just start walking around the downtown and harbor area...grabbed a few beers (just me as the wife's now 7 months pregnant )...and ended up at Jamie Kennedy's Wine Bar on an excellent recommendation by one of my co-workers. That place absolutely fantastic, great food, great wine and not terribly expensive...what more could you ask for and I say this as a snobbish NYC food connoisseur (my wife, the cook, included)
So no clubs or too much excitement, but with all that said, we had a really great time and found your city really quite beautiful and friendly...can't wait to get back there for a much longer stay.

I was also in Toronto a week ago. I stayed around Scarborough and Markham however since I was there for a wedding. I have to say the more I go to Canada, the more I fall in love with it.
