Sex Crimes and the Vatican is a documentary from the BBC made in 2006. RAI wants to air it the day after tomorrow in Italy, but it's not sure that this will happen since the Vatican is trying everything possible to keep it away from the screen. Why? Not only because of the cases of child abuse by priests shown in the documentary, but also because this child abuse has been kept silent for decades at the order of... Cardinal Ratzinger, now better known as Pope Benedictus XVI. Ratzinger issued a secret decree in 1962 called "Crimen Sollitationes" which demanded absolute silence from priests, victims and witnesses. Penalty of breaking that silence: immediate excommunication...

Apart from the facts in this documentary it's quite shocking how much influence the Vatican has in the public life in Italy.
