Released today. Suddenly the ?500 I spent on the thing doesn't seem as bad as I thought.
In a nutshell this is what you get:
The PS3 can now search for streaming media servers for video and audio. Massive potential there and makes the thing far more attractive.
Upscales PSOne/PS2 games to whatever you've set your PS3 up for. Mines at 1080i and it looks pretty damn good. Also adds a smoothing option to tighten up the jagged edges. Even my PS One games are looking pretty good considering. Gonna try 720p later on.
Can now watch Blu-Ray discs in 720p.
DVD player now upscales DVD's far better. Upscaled DVD video looks fantastic.
Option now for HDMI to display the full range of colours.
Can now plug printers in and print straight onto them.
Memory card adaptors can now move data back onto the PS2/PSOne memory cards. Thank christ for that.
