Both Liberals and Conservatives tend to ignore the big picture in favor of their own narrow view of the universe.

For example, calling Bush "liberal kryptonite" equates liberals with Superman, an icon of virtue and justice. Probably not what they intended...

On the other side of things, liberals tend to follow Kerry's example of harping on all the things Bush has done wrong...but remaining vague on how to do things right.

People on both sides need to open their eyes, before the US goes the way of Byzantium.
