    Gore for President?

So I have been watching the news and news related shows (Daily Show, etc) and there is speculation that Gore may throw his hat in the running for president....think he will? If so, do you think he will win? I do.

If he did win, I think that would be the best thing to happen to the US....I think he would make an amazing president.

    What are your thoughts?

He will most likely not run. If he did run, he would not win. If he did win, he would make a horrible president.

that is indeed a good thought. i think he at least has the smarts and integrity to be a worls leader but difficult to say if he will win.

^^^ I agree with you....I can't think of how to put in words what I am thinking....Bill Maher had Michael Moore and Ron Paul on the other night and they were talking about him and his views on global warming, health care and the war in Iraq and I agree with him and his views....he is very forward thinking and very passionate about correcting the wrongs that have been done in the past 6-8 years (mainly due to Bush IMO)

well, he won the popular vote once before. Lots has happened since that time, but most of it would make people that voted for Bush more likely to vote for a Democrat than the other way around, so I think he'd have a pretty good shot if he got the nomination.

                    Re: Gore for President?

Gore will run. Consider this: He's got a good shot at winning the Nobel Prize (for his work on global warming) and way too many are sold on the idea that he won the election a few years ago. OF COURSE he's going to run.

If we're going to have a democrat as president, it might as well be him. I dont' want two more obviously socialist (clinton and obama) idiots in office. But still, I feel like this mirrors what happened with Kerry in '04. I don't believe there are as many strong reasons to cast a vote FOR Gore than there are strongs reasons to NOT vote for his competition.

What would be good reasons not to vote for Gore?

I agree on the Clinton/Obama remark: Clintdog is a disaster waiting to happen and as far as I know about Obama, he lacks a bit of experience to make it as president.

Gore is an intelligent and ballanced guy imo, so as an outsider I think he'd make a good president.

But seriously, who'd want to become president after Bush? 4 years aren't enough to clean up the mess he's caused on a global scale...

he would be a good president for the country , but taking office after bush would not be easy for him ... too much preassure i think

This will probably be the toughest thing for him to overcome. After Bush's disastrous presidency, people aren't overly excited about more on-the-job training. I think it is more a perception thing than anything else, though. Bush hasn't sucked because of a lack of experience, he's just not up to the job. The reality is that lots of people have held the office with fairly low levels of national political experience and done OK. Matter of fact, if he spins it right, his not being a Washington insider could be a feather in his cap.

I had occasion to see Obama when he came through St. Louis recently, and I've got to say, the dude is electric in person. He's an incredible speaker, and he really comes across as genuine about the things he says. The problem is that he doesn't just deliver one-liners -- he steadily builds up to a crescendo, and it can take a couple of minutes for him to get from point A to point B. When he gets there, it really strikes a cord, but he's going to have to figure out how to get to that point quicker (read: in 30-60 seconds) if that's going to come across in debates and on the news. Media outlets do not play 3 minute clips of candidates, and his end point isn't the same if you haven't heard the build-up.

Gore/Obama would be a whale of a ticket, IMO. I think the GOP would be pretty hard-pressed to put someone up that could beat those two.

^^ I should note that the way that Obama takes a while to get to what he's saying is quite different from Kerry's inability to quickly say anything. Kerry would just ramble and hedge, whereas Obama is definitely going somewhere -- his style is to build to a point rather than just come out with it - really effective when you have a captive audience, but not well suited to rapid-fire news coverage.

yup. thats the key right there... people will want a democrat to fix the shit bush has put in place.. this is why i think a demo is going to win 2008, but then everything most likely is not going to be fixed in the short run. ALSO, the demo's wil probably want to raise taxes, basically undue what bush did in 2001, so then the demo's will have to work overtime to keep office in 2012. either way, whatever the demo's do, the conserv's will exploit to its fullest and therefore, will most likely win 2012 =\

at least that is what i think, could be complete crap but yea..
