Got back yesterday from DEMF - had to come back early unfortunately and miss the best day (school...). But, I'm glad I got to chill all day Sunday and see some great after parties as well.
I'm working on pictures, but basically I checked out...
Gui Boratto
Mathew Jonson
Audion & Ryan Elliott
Mistress Barbara
Mathew Jonson
Michael Mayer
Steve Bug
Troy Pierce (afterparty)
Baby Ford
Seth Troxler
Lee Curtiss
A few thoughts:
Festival: All in all, pretty good performances. Highlights for me: Michael Mayer and Steve Bug. Mayer was SICK Just, wow...if you have a chance, definitely go check him out live. Steve Bug was also really good, played to a completely packed house and kept them enthralled with all vinyl and some serato, so extra props for that (must've been hell beatmatching in that tent, too). Gui Boratto was also good live and had a great response, but you knew what he was gonna play next anyways.
But the highlight of the trip was an afterparty at this place called the Old Miami - Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Troy Pierce, Matthew Dear among others...and it was one of those experiences where you get the perfect group of real music heads in the perfect place, perfect vibe... One of the best parties of the year for me - was like Pawn Shop last year at WMC, but dirtier
So that was that. Wish I could've seen the Minus crew and Luciano and Loco Dice on Monday, but at least I've seen em before.
Anybody else go? Thoughts? Reviews? Pictures?
