Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
i like the separate forums!
if you do merge them, can you try something like put a special icon on the thread if its a member's mix? that way i could scan down the left side of a page and weed through things quickly.Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
this topic has been under debate forever.
while one dj is famous and his locals worship him, he is unknown virtually anywhere else. why should his set be in p&r when he is only "famous" with 20 people from his local town. how are we (mods) supposes to know who is famous and who is not. thats why i stopped moving regular members' sets to the members section a long time ago. i dont know that DJ ABC isnt totally famous in hakkastan, kirkkirkastan so i leave his thread alone.
i agree with a uniform post for members sets like an icon, but then that brings us back to my other point. how do i know who is famous and who is not. balerik, you have a loyal following and i've seen this over time. but in beerville, milwaukee im fairly certain nobody knows you, so why do you deserve extra special attention in our p&r forum? (not picking on you, just using you as example, so plz keep your tampon blood free )
i've been posting mixes on this site for 5+ years now, but i still feel that doesn't give me any more reason to post in the p&r section than any of my associates who have been doing so, just as long.
i've even seen Madoka post his sets in the members section, so if he doesn't deserve being in p&r than why do i, or [you] for that matter
*this is not directed at any one individual, i just used balerik as an example, so plz keep all your whining at a minimum, and allow this discussion to continue*Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
In the end 99% come here for sets of the big-name dj's to see what they are playing.
Nowadays everybody with a pc can put together a decent mix. So many music on the net, so nobody is bothered to listen to them. Not saying this is a good thing, but it makes sense.Dutch Progressive House Community, Podcast, Live-sets, Cd and vinyl reviews, Guestlists and more....

Of course, I?m pretty sure it?s a more tightly-knit community than this one, which is to be expected since it has only a bit over 1000 members.Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
yeah, this is a toss up. I myself would like to put stuff on the regular p&r section, but I dont because I have my own (members).
I follow the rules. If I dont get any feedback or comments, Im not gonna bitch and pout to myslef and place my set where it shouldn't just to get recognition.
It is difficult to determine what should go where, just Like Jibby mentioned. I think he does bring up a good point, ...why should others get more attention vs someone else....
Until the Mods decide what to do with this "dilema" I will continue to load my sets where they should. Feedback or no feedback.Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
Problem is if we go back to people posting everything under P+R some will start complaining again about the load of mixes from "unkown" DJs. I know that "unkown" is relative and Jib explained it perfectly but for me the 2 sections have become a pain in the ass as well and I would rather have everything in one pool and face the problem that some are annoyed from "unkown DJ"-mixes than to have a 2 class society but that's only me maybe....Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
I think the people who post their sets in the members section should decide whether to keep it or bring it down. Really I think it's up to us who work hard on uplaoding our sets and sharing them to have a say.
If most agree then I am for it, if most disagree then I'll go with that as well.
Im open to either decision I guess.
And if you all decide to merge them, then maybe there should be an option when uploading or posting, just like this little menu bar up on top, to flag it as a "Members mix".
just my opinion.Comment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
I dont say that i deserve more attention than any other boardmembers. And I agree that I am nobody compared to all the djs that have sets on here.... but I use the internet to promote myself like almost every dj. I post mixes here because there are many members and quite a few actually check them out if they are in this section. I'll stop posting them then, no problem....
Maybe I should make Desyn and Howells to become members so their mixes go in the members section so we can get some action over there tooComment

Re: FAO Djs posting their sets in this forum...
The basic idea of [ms] has always been to help DJs promote themselves to a wider audience, which was also one of the core reasons to have a split Members forum. This obviously is not working out in the favor of member DJs as much as most would like it to, hence I'm still open to merging both forums and using this suggestion, which could be the better way ahead.www.mjwebhosting.com
