Upcoming Vision Chicago June - July Events

August 4th, 2007 - Vision Presents: James Zabiela

Knowing what a great track should sound like - and the place it can be taken by warping and twisting it - is James Zabiela's forte. Layering different sounds with the aid of two Pioneer CDJ1000s, a Pioneer DJM600 and a pair of trusty Technics 1210s, his hands and ears don't let up for a second, leaving any punters feet a-moving and mouth a-gap. And his demands for such kit wherever he spins is a reminder that he's one of the scant few DJs who's pushing things forward in 07. James's style is trippy, bleepy and deeply - nay, downright - groovy. Oh, and watch out for a few gnarly basslines along the way. Those nasty, dirty sounds are a part of Jay-Z's signature sound now. Scratches, loops, fluttering chord changes and are all par for the course in a Zabiela set. No wonder childhood idols Depeche Mode remain his heroes - like fellow tech-house don Mathew Bushwacka!, they all understand that the best electronic music moves both heart and feet. And if the magic's there, the spirit will fly as well.

Still pushing the envelope and still learning to cope with a real-life fanbase and life on the other side of the record counter, its unlikely that James Zabiela will be taking a breather anytime soon. There are further late niteries like Tribal Sessions and The End to entertain and regular slots in Romania and Budapest to attend to. (I get to play whatever I want," he smiles). It's been far too long since James has graced Vision with his presence. In fact, the last time he was here, he was still touring as the opener for Sasha. Be sure not to miss his return to the main room at Vision as he comes back to lay down some of the best dance music you'll ever hear.

August 10th, 2007 - Vision & Amp Presents: Friday Detention! with Glacier LIVE (Pier Bucci + Crazy Larry)

Pier Bucci combines rhythms and melodies with a Latin twist and a hint of German efficiency. His debut album on Crosstown Rebels 'Familia' was one of the highlightsof 2005. Pier has also released a blissful downtempo album 'IntroducingLight and Sound' with Luciano as Monne Automne. His sound is a personalblend of lush, colorful melodies, wrapped inside elegant techno, alltied together with a Latin twist. Like his friends Luciano and RicardoVillalobos, Pier Bucci has combined electronica with the organic soundsof South American music.

With the rave scene being just a blur of baggy pants and flourescentaccessories in the memory of some jaded middle aged clubber, it seemsthat today's youth culture has forgot about dance music. But then againthere is always the exception to the rules and there is one young kidby the name of Larry Ursini who discovered dance music around the year2000 and fell in love.As his palette for crazy new sounds and his deeper understanding ofdance music develops at a rapid pace, the fresh new sounds of somenasty Telectro is what gets his blood moving these days. Even though Larry is almost as new as the hot new stuff heplays, the old guard better beware, because there is a whole newgeneration out there ready to take dance music to the next level!

Together, Pier and Larry are Glacier. Don't miss the debut of the live set as Pier & Larry bring some of the freshest tunes and beats to the Vision Dome room for another Friday Detention!

August 11th, 2007 - Vision & Bohemians Music Presents: Michael Burian & Angelo Mike

The Czech DJ Michael Burian is one of the best known artists on the modern music scene in his country. Michael is also well known beyond the borders of his country. At present he is one of the most sought after DJs in Central Europe, and you can hear his beats at events throughout Europe. Michael began his career as a DJ at the age of 15, when he performed for the first time at a school party. Michael got into electronic music very quickly and decided to devote most of his time to music. He did not take his first musical steps only as a DJ but also as a producer and organizer of dance events. By doing this he opened the door to a wide field of musical activities. Afterwards he made a name for himself not just as an events promoter and a DJ (Elektromajk), but he also brought out several successful CD mixes (for example Nextera CD,Evolution Beat and CD Trancing one of the most successful CDs according to TRIPMAG magazine).

Huge Energy! Angelo Mike was undoubtedly born with it, and - what is most important - he was born with desire to share that energy with others. He began his mission in 1995 with playing detroit techno from labels such as KMS, Transmat or UR, so that in 1998 he became fascinated with American house and assumed a nick under which he has been performing till now: ANGELO MIKE. Living his life by the rule ..if you don't develop .. you move back.., he started working as a promoter as well. The fruits of his organizational efforts were parties on south of Poland, where played the then elite of Polish electronic scene.

Both Michael and Angelo will grace Chicago with their presence as they make their Vision debut. So be sure not to miss this electrifying show as we bring you two of the biggest names in Europe in August!
