I understand why you say that, but come on, do you feel that?s the essence of DJ?ing?

Every DJ I know is of the opinion that beatmatching is the basis for dance music DJ?ing, but it?s not what defines DJ? ing as an art : like Sasha says, it?s the content, and how you present it to your audience.

I assure you, as an Ableton Live user, that freeing your mind and hands from beatmatching will allow a whole new level of creativity and freedom in DJ sets. And that?s good for the DJ and, I think, even better for the crowd.

but i think the next album - the tracklisting will come from a wider selection. more pop, rock, rnb, influences.

wow- going completely digital! no more vinyl or cd's. Very surprising. What about the sound quality issue. Do dj's who play off the computer hav etheir files in WAV format so they don;t sound crapola over a big sound system? I would think that even 192 kbps or 320 wouldn't cut it.
The djs took pills to stay awake and play for seven days......

Makes me laugh how people are ready to mock something that they've not listened to, let alone seen a track list for. I bet you have never seen him DJ. You need to sort yourself out.

Face it, if a dj isn't interested in the style of music he is playing then it's about time to have a change. It will be nice to hear something fresh.

Anyway, at least he's didn't mention garage.

                        just reading and thinking
when the discussion between an old guard (beatmaching from winyl) and newbies (beatmatched by a computer) will end ?

there must be something in our minds that can't let you forget lots of hours spending on useles tries to beatmatch tons of sweat and gr8 pleasure after first beatmatch...(maybe there is some jelaous that some "guy" is beatmatching from yesterday as good as you are after few years of training)

That is what I remember and no one I said no one who is beatmatched by protools or nuendo or abletone, can take it

(as u can see I am using inproper time clauses for beatmatching just because I think that when someone is beatmatching 4 u you are BEATMATCHED

                        anyway
lets do not argue about who is dj and who is not just just depending on beatmatch type...
classics is basic IMO but...if you want to produce something that you have in your mind (bootleg i guess) or just suprise your listeners i think that instatnt beatmatcher will do the trick.(imagine 2 decks cd's and a pc...thats a whole galaxy of new sounds to create in notime)
newbie can play the whole set but I've seen that even if you sound like crap but you are playing using turntables there is a lot of respect in the room (i can't said the same about beatmatched players)

                        regards

It was moderated... Not many questions went through. I wondered how to ask about in a state (something like 'what so special about in a state that it's calways in your sets and you've decided to remix it for the second time?') but some gut asked a similar question (only put more delicately) so mine wouldn't go through..
Overall my impression is that Sash has learnt over the years how to give a vague answer to any given question.

                              But my fav is:

OM3GA - what's the most interesting thing to happen to you during a Set??
Sasha - djing with john digweed on the delta heavy tour and watching him stage drive was pretty weird!

IMPREZA - Where would you say is your favourite Country to play and why?
Sasha - right now, i mean i havent been to australia for a while, so probably argentina. beunos aires!!

The first moonpark was incredible... and this year's SouthFest too, a little short, but it wasn't his fault. I didn't expect he would choose BA as his favourite place anyway... that's great
